Why do we call it the 'red pill' again? There's obviously some confusion over the concept especially now that the 'alt-right' is gaining more attention.
Sure its a play on the famous scene from the Matrix however that makes the concept seem arrogant to outsiders because it suggests there's some greater or transcendent truth beyond societal norms which most people feel reflect thought out and progressive social and political concepts.

At a more fundamental level it signifies compliance with a bureaucratic complex and authoritarian big government which itself is controlled by interest groups and oligarchies.
