The CZ is a tough workhorse, but needed trigger work and springs. I'm partial to the 1911 designs tho, myself. The little guy is carry choice, an outstanding Sig P-938 9mm. All grips non-standard.
Don't be fooled by blowhards claiming a 1911 design is outdated, or that any currentlyrics manufactured design is inherently superior. Obviously they not experts. Design choice is a matter of personal fit, feel, and effective shooting. What one person rejects, another will excel with. Go to a proper range that rents weapons and try many before buying.

The VHS2 has been selected alongside the HK416A5, SCAR L, ARX160A3 and some SIG rifle (possibly the 556 or 516). Your precious rifle is highly unlikely to win the tender, as Croatia is absolutely irrelevant politically and economically, it doesn't use AR15 magazines, and is an unproven rilfe that is not used by anyone. The HK416 is much more likely to win, especially since Hollande is Merkel's bitch and the German, and possibly British military are most likely to select this rifle as well. And the three biggest militaries of the EU sharing the same rifle is obviously going to be an advantage.

.45 is about 22-25usd/50rds, 9mm is about $5 cheaper. 9mm is slightly less appealing because of politically correct magazine capacity (10rds), thought my next buy is probably a P226 Navy.

For carry, I like my cz P01 9mm. Feels good in the hand, 14+1 capacity, accurate as hell, more reliable than a glock, looks nice imo. About $550-650 msrp new.
For rifles, I think my favorite is my arsenal slr104-fr. 5.45x39 is decently accurate, we'll priced, and has great tissue damage with tumbling. My WASR and 7.62x51 Zastava M77 are also pretty nice and easier on the wallet if you don't want to shell 1k+ on a rifle.
For sub 200m shooting I prefer 1x optics. Aimpoint pro is imo the best red dot you can get for the money. 7 year constant power battery life, doesn't lose zero, and rugged. Only about $400

Running&shooting with Usp feels so natural& succession shots always on target. LOVE it I've had G23 in 40 ,p22, p320 &p226 in 45 but Usp is by far fav.
Sig so damn heavy was edc turned in truck gun. Lotta good features but sold felt bad not shooting em. Decocker/safety on Usp won me amoung other things.

So does the magazine hold 15 or 16? The +1 is just a round left in the chamber. If the magazine capacity is 15, on the first magazine it would be 14+1 until you fired all but one and did a reload with a full 15, leaving +1 in the chamber. I know no one that will load a fresh magazine, rack the slide, drop the magazine and replace the 1 missing or use a fresh mag. If its 16 for magazine capacity, its just 16.
