He didn't use infantry as much as others. He loved artillery which was the primary way people died in wars. It's pretty much accepted today that men don't fire upon the enemy line voluntarily, the men of 18th and 19th century combat would have fired just above enemy lines. Napoleon stumbled into his wins by just spamming artillery, the other side didn't know their men were firing over enemy troops.
