Doesn't matter how hard they work, they are already handicapped from young. It's no surprise why North Korean defectors living in South Korea fail to land white collar jobs or rise to prominence without relying on media money.
Just check out the interviews they conduct on NoKo kids in South Korea. They're lagging in education because they simply cannot keep up with the 13 hour school day.
Another thing: North Koreans speak a different type of Korean from South Koreans. Loads of terms, especially those pertaining to technology, are different. Good luck standardising that.
