"Smoking weed is against the law. So is murder. What does that say about weed?"
You can't argue with this. Stoners, change your ways. You are CRIMINALS, and frankly you are doing your mind and body an injustice by smoking that awful plant.
>hurr but it's natural.

>>

>>
>>74232159
There no downside to weed or tobacco. Part of the backlash against it is because it's usually smoked and there's an anti-smoking crusade in America.

Also, cocaine and meth will probably be de stigmatized next. Heroin might take a back seat due to the negative media attention surrounding it. All drugs should be legal though.
>>
I agree. Beer and booze should be enough to relax anybody, but these junkie fucks are knowingly breaking the law to get their fix. Weed was banned for a reason.

It was just a shitpost, I'm more than aware that the US banned many recreational "minority" drugs: at least opium from the Chinese and weed from the Blacks. Then the rest of the world jumped on the bandwagon and everyone seems to have forgotten the original reasons surrounding the bans.

I don't agree with recreational use, but say if a soldier has PTSD and smoking some marijuana will help ease his symptoms and keep him off opioids, than im all for it. If it will really be beneficial to people in need and well help with their pain or discomfort/diseases that is great, but just being a degenerate stoner who thinks they're so alpha smoking pot all day, than fuck off.

That the government doesn't want you smoking it? That's the only real immediate implication that can be made. It's like saying in a European or asian country:

> Freedom of speech is against the law. So is murder. What does that say about Freedom of speech!?

It doesn't really say much about whether it's moral or not, it just states that it's illegal.
>>

2 beers on a friday night... there is no equivalent with weed. you are either not high or stoned to oblivion. of course stoners and niggnogs who smoke 24/7 can get just a little bit high... but that is ignoring their hazed mental faculties when "sober". they dont have actual clarity until a month or so sober.

Everything you've stated is based on your own opinion. As someone who has done the rainbow of drugs and currently holds a six figure salary as an Network Architect, I can attest that it's the person and not the drug. Particularly with weed, anyone that says their life is hell because of weed is a Tool.

Like you are a tool for suggesting that everyone that does anything is equivalent to the trash you see sleeping in the streets.
>>
>>74233187
Alcohol was also banned and like it weed is being decriminalized, but if you want to be a fucking hypocrit that's all on you, as I'm sure you drink . One thing too...a junkie is someone addicted to smack, weed...if you're addicted to it then you'd be addicted to damn near anything.

Again, I reiterate, it's the person and not the drug, people are a lot stronger than you give them credit.

People addicted to the internet for example have been found to go into manic episodes when forced off of the internet. Their brains go nuts from the sudden change in stimulus.

Of course weed habits can cause withdrawal. Coffee habits do to. Anyone telling you their habit won't cause withdrawal is bullshitting you.

Once you've done REAL shit, weed comes off like caffeine. Kiddy shit. Which makes its regulation all the more confusing. I mean, I can see why some people might want coke regulated, but weed? Jesus Christ it's babby-tier as far as drugs go. Caffeine is stronger.

I don't doubt it. 3 years of using a substance. Your entire body gets used to it. It's "evolves" if you will, to function in that state. The sudden change in chemistry presents a shock to the system. The "dude weed is harmless" fags are as bad as Quentin there. No chemical is harmless, and consuming anything comes with risks. Eat too many pickles? Enjoy your elevated sodium, hypertension, and stomach ulcers. Hope you have good life insurance.

Moderation and self-control are the most vital aspects in life, without question. It's a travesty that they're not taught to people from early childhood.
No, we stupid fucks would rather either ignore it, or teach abstinence. Neither of which help when the inevitable happens: experimentation.

Possesion of a controlled substance is against the law (unless it was obtained lawfully, like by prescription). So if someone smokes weed and is not found to be in possession of it, they committed no crime (for example, if they sat in a circle while a joint was passed around and inhaled). Or, for example, if someone got their weed from the federal government's farm at the University of Mississippi.

And the only reason that cannabis is a Schedule 1 controlled substance in the US is due to a letter sent by one guy in about 1970 to Richard Nixon (widely regarded as America's worst president ever).

Different US states have decriminalized possession of cannabis, different US states have legalized cannabis for use as a medicine, and different US states have legalized cannabis for use recreationally. More and more states will have ballot initiatives and legalize it.

But frankly it's ridiculous that one person on the Supreme Court could legalize gay marriage for everyone in America (based on a misreading of the 14th Amendment), while states still have to legalize weed one by one.

This is a great article about veterans who grow and give medical marijuana to fellow veterans for free twice a month in Santa Cruz, CA, since veterans aren't allowed to ask VA doctors about medical marijuana:

http://mashable.com/2016/04/04/veterans-cannabis-santa-cruz/

And really, I see headline every day about the opioid epidemic in America. And really, marijuana is the solution.

I just don't want to see giant multinational corporations swallow up every mom-and-pop cannabis business in America.

Ya because hemp is so versatile that the government needed a scape goat to get it off the market so the wealthy twin and paper companies wont go out of business it pretty funny how after like five years or so of being illegal it was relegalizrd for a short time cause the war effort needed hemp made supplies
>>

To be fair the opinions come across as scientific to them because the government pays scientists to write bad things about all dugs even though legal and illegal recreational drugs are mostly harmless.

"The dose makes the poison"
This can easily be translated into "Self control makes the poison".

The argument against drugs is never really about drugs. It's about self-control. And if your society is one without self-control, all the drug laws in the world won't stop it from breaking down.

And self-control CAN NOT be taught by prohibition anymore than algebra can be taught by banning mathematics.

Simple. One allows you to imprison men for profit, the other allows you to abort fetuses for profit.

Plus the drug war itself is a MASSIVE source of income.

It's simple. At some point in time OP realized he'd never be part of most social circles, so he tries to get back at them another way.

You have to understand that the state's police is used by politicians as a regulating agent for drugs import/export.
If urban areas have their local dealers to produce drugs like weed and hash, when there is an opiace demand and a market needs hard drugs provision, you can see it's always people with high social and professionnal status, or people they hire directly, who travel and do the job. Cocaine also travels on planes, usually on people with full suit on and briefcase, sitting in affair class.

Drug market is entirely regulated by the government.

IDGAF if weed gets legalized, doesn't bother me.

What I really want to know is what are we going to do about driving and smoking weed. I don't know of any good test/scale to measure how high someone is to how capable of driving they are and everyone is different but by allowing people to drive on weed we allow the argument "i'm good at it" like some drunk drivers have.

I personally believe people shouldn't drive high but thats me.

The tech is currently being worked on to the point you can measure it in spit, sweat, breath and blood.

We're getting there, and that DUI money is flow like the river nile of old.

Unless you're absolutely baked, weed isn't going to make your motor skills bad enough to make you a serious threat while driving.
Tired drivers and drivers amped out of their heads on caffeine are far more serious threats.
If anything, weed will make you slower and more cautious behind the wheel at typical doses. The current big nasty of intoxicated driving is people under the influence of benzodiazepines like Xanax.
Think drunk driving X 10.
>>
>>74245608
>>74245793
Why do people shit on intoxicated drivers so much? I bet shit tons of people do it and don't end up hurting anyone. All you hear are the extreme cases. Is it people just wishing they could control how others drive?

>Why do people shit on intoxicated drivers so much?
Because it's a fucking god damn stupid ass thing to do. It's bad self-control.
It's like going to a gun range while drunk.

The biggest excuse that anti-drug people have are fuckwits who are intoxicated hurting other people. It's childish and careless behavior. Get a ride you lazy shit, or better yet, stay home.
>>
>>74246264
Never driven drunk or high, just asking. Known people who drove over the legal limit and they didn't kill or hurt anyone. It'd obviously be pretty bad if they did.

>kill yourself

Ouch
>>
>>74245608

People shouldn't drive high.

But replace every drunk driver with a high driver and there would be less accidents, less deaths.

High drivers are less likely to weave out of lane and speed than drunk drivers
http://now.uiowa.edu/2015/06/ui-studies-impact-marijuana-driving

http://www.livescience.com/54693-high-drivers-double-after-marijuana-legalization.html
>For instance, if more people stay home, "getting high in their basements," rather than getting drunk in a bar, that may lower the number of drunk drivers on the roads, Hansen said.

Even worse would be a drunk+high driver though.
>>
>>74246074

And texting and driving is a much bigger threat than stoned drivers.

A smartphone is a bigger threat than a joint.
>>
>>74246163

Consider it another case of a few people ruining it for everyone else.

I'm sure some people can drunk drive and not cause any accidents for years. I'm sure some people can high drive and not cause any accidents for years.

But when it's bad, it's really bad.

But we're not talking about phones ITT.
I personally wouldn't mind seeing car makers willingly outfitting their models with Faraday cages or jammers to block cellular reception inside of vehicles. Don't want any laws to force the issue, but if it was done willingly, I'd laugh my ass off. Imagine the butthurt.

I can believe someone can get withdrawal from marijuana.

Just be glad it wasn't alcohol. You could have died. Ever had an irregular heartbeat? Ever had a seizure? Ever wake up in the middle of the night afraid you stopped breathing?

>>
>>74246929

People still shouldn't smoked weed and drive, but I'm saying the "threat" posed by stoned drives is less than drunk drivers, and less than texting drivers.

And since THC metabolites can stay in the body for 30 days, all these blood tests don't really test for how impaired it made someone while driving.

http://www.livescience.com/54693-high-drivers-double-after-marijuana-legalization.html
>The researchers found that 70 percent of drivers who failed these sobriety tests, and whose impairment was attributed to marijuana by drug-recognition experts, still had blood levels of THC lower than 5 nanograms per milliliter.

>"There is no number that we can use to reliably predict impairment," Nelson said. "Alcohol and cannabis are very different drugs. They behave in the body in very different ways, and trying to use the system from alcohol is not the way to go."

>Instead, states should use a combination of field sobriety tests, blood tests and evidence from drug-recognition experts to identify drivers who are impaired by marijuana, Nelson said.
>>
>>74246958
Just because GABA agonists make life a living hell in withdrawal doesn't mean other drugs are easy.
Breaking any habit can be a giant PITA, chemical or not.

>>74247202
Shouldn't be any policing unless a wreck has already occurred.
My opinion is, if you cause a wreck and test positive for any substance, your punishment is multiplied by 5X.
And punishments should be either lashing/corporal, or indentured servitude to the victim or victim's family until the debt is paid.
None of this prison or fines bullshit.
Don't want to be punished? Make sure you're not a shit driver to begin with. Don't cause accidents. Very simple.

You have something else very seriously wrong with you

I can't relax with it because I'm technically allergic to alcohol :(

plus alcohol makes you fat
>>
Mallum in se vs mallum prohibitum. Illegal for totally different reasons
>>
>>74248126
Alcohol's not relaxing either.
Many fights are caused by drunks. Not many caused by weed though, strangely. And even more strange, not many fights instigated by diazepines. Alcohol and diazepines work on the same receptor system, but ethanol has a unique ability to make people into the biggest assholes. Even coke and meth aren't as bad.
