Gender dysphoria is a form of body dysphoria, which is a group of mental disorders where the subject thinks that his body is not what is in his head.
Anorexia is also a form of body dysphoria where the subject thinks that they are fat when they are actually not.
What is interesting is that for anorexic people (a body dysphoria) that we as a society encourage them to get healthy by making their brain understand that there is a disconnect between perception and reality, whereas for those suffering from gender dysphoria (also a body dysphoria) we as a society encourage them to excise (cut off) perfectly healthy organs to make the reality mimic the perception.
Another interesting form of body dysphoria is "phantom limb syndrome" where patients will feel that a limb (usually arms or legs, sometime toes or fingers) are "not a part of them" and will seek a medical professional to akputate them, however they generally will not due to bioethical concerns over the amputation of a healthy limb, but interestingly enough will have no qualms with slicing off a perfectly good penis.
