Sun is in a cooling phase
Its too soon for the expected natural warming phase of the earth
CO2 is a known greenhouse gas
CO2 levels have been rising dramatically since the industrial period
Medieval Warming period had a warmer Europe but was colder in other parts of the world, making it a weather pattern and not a warming global climate cycle.
>>
>>74164197
it means the weather is changing, just like it's been since the planet formed and atmosphere

I mean what has a greater effect on this planet? the 4 billion people in the developed or developing world? or the mass of ocean currents and the power of the fucking sun.
>>
>>74164479
Essentially the consensus is that current natural activity isn't enough to explain the warming. We are doing enough pollution that we are overriding current CO2 productions to be far over what they should be.
>>
>>74164197
it means that the aliens have finally forgotten to make adjustments to all our climate gauges, since their goal is to make us think everything is ok while we gradually destroy the planet, thus leaving earth for the aliens to reinhabit after the humans have gone. Don't fall for their tricks, anons!

warming temps have been proven to be doctored to show a rise (NASA). Scientists can only study what they get funding for, if they go against global warming they are cut off from funding and are ostrichsized, if they 'prove' global warming they get big fat checks and pats on the back.

>Throughout history, governments have twisted science to suit a political agenda. Global warming is no different, according to Dr. Richard Lindzen of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

>“Global climate alarmism has been costly to society, and it has the potential to be vastly more costly. It has also been damaging to science, as scientists adjust both data and even theory to accommodate politically correct positions,” writes Lindzen in the fall 2013 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons.

>“Global Warming has become a religion,” writes Lindzen. “A surprisingly large number of people seem to have concluded that all that gives meaning to their lives is the belief that they are saving the planet by paying attention to their carbon footprint.”

Maybe not that. However, there are scientists investigating putting an inert particulate spray into the atmosphere to offset any warming effect. The solution would be fairly simple from an engineering and scientific standpoint, and it would also be very cheap. However most governments aren't interested in doing that because it doesn't benefit them directly.

Wew. Imagine if you only took the measurements of rainfall in the same place in spring, and then summer rolled around and the rain stopped, would that be climate change? No, because scale is everything. A few months of record highs, or record highs at all is simply an indicator of the limited scale of the data.

>Mount Pinatubo

>The eruption had a significant effect on ozone levels in the atmosphere, causing a large increase in the destruction rate of ozone. Ozone levels at mid-latitudes reached their lowest recorded levels, while in the southern hemisphere winter of 1992, the ozone hole over Antarctica reached its largest ever size until then, with the fastest recorded ozone depletion rates. The eruption of Mount Hudson in Chile in August 1991 also contributed to southern hemisphere ozone destruction, with measurements showing a sharp decrease in ozone levels at the tropopause when the aerosol clouds from Pinatubo and Hudson arrived.

the reason it caused a cooling effect was because the shit in the air literally blocked sunlight

the chemicals the volcano released massively fucked up the atmosphere and weather

Everyone is done pretending we don't have an impact on the environment. We know we are putting gasses in the air that add to rising temperatures. However, we're, roughly, 5-10% of the cause. The global temperature is rising because we're still in a fucking ice age. The polar ice caps WILL melt because they have frozen and melted before. The sea will rise because it has done so before. A mass extinction will happen because it has and done so before. It would do this if we were still in huts and killing our dinner with a spear.
>>
>>74165728
My earth science professor said that the climate has been slowly increasing for hundreds of years. He also said that weather stations have been shut down due to budget cuts. This means that weather stations are mainly in highly populated city areas where they have a warmer climate than other areas when recording tempature. I found this interesting because he also said to us global warming is a myth and he also said that humans have an impact of less than 1% on climate change.

We might not be around if it decides it, but in the end isn't that whats important to you people? Even if we set off every single nuke, bomb, whatever that exists on this earth all at once - it won't even be a hiccup for the earth.

For you to think we as humans are powerful enough to change the earth that drastically is so fucking narcissistic. Why? It's too late to reverse the trend of global temperatures rising. We should focus on ways to adapt to the rising temps and protecting our borders from the inevitable mass influx of people from hot and dry countries.

Those are all climate scientists. If they don't shovel dogma they are out of work. They are really the new age priests and the new age religion is man made climate change, the new tithe is carbon cap and trade, and the new heretic is a denier!

History repeats and religion causes more problems that it solves obviously.

Thankfully political corruption doesn't affect every single person , so as long as there is at least one objectivism driven scientific team left in the world, we'll have a chance to know for sure.
Either way, anthropomorphic climate change is WAY overstated, to the point that predictions made for dates that have passed havent even been slightly correct.

and this is why we are dying

you need to realize science is one of the most politicized fields of study there is

from genetics to climate, everything is biased

look at what's happening around you, do you really believe the proponents of global warming do ANYTHING to stop it?

how is some petty legislation designed to cost businesses money, or some new law that bans plastic bags going to end the incredible destruction of nature they keep perpetuating?

Oh, look, it's applicable both ways.

Anyway, the root cause is people. So we need to deal with India, China, and Africa.
>>
>>74168112

pollution should be a completely different argument to "climate change"

fucking obviously we should try to preserve our food and water supply and not allow countries to dump their wastes if it effects anyone other than them alone. But to say it matters to the earth, no it doesn't. If you believe strictly in evolution and the big bang like the left does, it's fucking amazing we are even here for this tiny spec of time that allowed the earth to be inhabitable by us and for us to reach "higher" intelligence. They should know at any moment the earth or universe can change even microscopically (relatively) and kill us all no matter what we do.

But even then, our fresh water in the US are less polluted than they ever have been. I don't see why its a "growing concern". Anyone who wants to talk about pollution and "climate change" and isn't DIRECTLY talking about asia/india is a fucking idiot. All they want to do is talk about the already clean and strict western countries.

Which is why I said objectivism driven team.
I know papers are manipulated by politicians and corporate power, after all, often times these are the people who fund the teams.
But given the character of the people who work in science fields in general, there is and probably always will be a group of people who remove themselves from dogmas to analyse the truth around them. It's human curiosity, undeniable and unquenchable.
>>
>people still think it's a complete coincidence that CO2 levels have been rising 50x faster than any point in the last million years

That's actually not true. Ice core oxygen isotope measurements don't give you the average global temperature for every day 5 million years ago. They give you what amount to points for many years together.

That means that although the connections between points appear to be shallow, actually there's all kinds of variation in between points that we can't really show.

>>74166554

>It's average warming you fucking tards

Glad you realize that. Average global temperature hasn't changed for 15-19 years, depending on the particular satellite data set. Check for yourself.

I used to be agnostic, but I've experienced so many "supernatural" events that I can't possibly lie to myself to think there isn't something more. I don't label myself any religion, but some events make me lean christian enough thats what I usually tell people. Nobody ever believes my stories(except other people who have had experiences) but it's okay. I feel if you are truly receptive to the universe and seek enlightenment it will answer out to you. I used to meditate and lucid dream a lot in my youth trying to get through severe depression. I feel like doing that opened myself to be more receptive seeking the answer to continue living.

A bit uncertain about the big bang being the start of the universe is all, according to a new model that applies quantum correction terms to complement Einstein's theory of general relativity, the universe may not have had a beggining, it's speculated that space time has always existed and that matter and energy have expanded and contracted infinitely, though I am not well read on this yet which is why I said I was only uncertain.

Czech fag here. This is the 5th or so year when we have little to no snow.

When I was kid, we used to have 50cm+ snow covering for at least one month. I used to build snow bunkers which lasted for several weeks.

Now we have maybe 10-20 cm of snow, and it last for week or two. It's not even worth shoveling.
There was no snow on Christmas Eve. There was no snow on New Year, which I spend on 1.000m mountain peak.
>>
>>74172061

I live in a tropical area that averages 1 inch of snow every decade (literally). It's been 8 years since the last snow, so if 3 more years pass I'll let you know if global warming is 100% confirmed or not.
>>
>>74165156
That graph doesn't show what you think it does. Temperature rises/falls and THEN CO2.
>>
>>74164454
I would like to see an average temp from readings of just random people all over the world (or just US)

Its been very cool here too.

NASA data points are literally subjective. They say 'oh, the measurement was taken here, and theres a big hill right near it so MAYBE it made the reading a bit low, we'll just bump it up to where we THINK it should be."
>>
>>74172553
Thanks, I feel safer now.

>>74165132
Greenhouse gases are a bunch of different things. 95% of greenhouse gas is comprised of water vapor. CO2 is 1%. The amount of CO2 that humans spew out into the atmosphere comprises of 0.000001% of that 1%.

Global warming believers will cite the ice melting in the north pole as a cause of global warming, then turn around and cite the growth of ice in the south pole from global warming. Then they come up with 'scientific' reasons that are just blind assumptions and theories and confuse those theories with science.

Everytime you see a temp/CO2 chart in the news, the length of time is retardedly short, because if they showed any legitimate length of time, everyone would see this moment is a piss in the ocean.

That chart is not recording weather, it's global average temperature anomaly i.e departure from a reference value or long term average.

There have been times that it's baking in London and snowing in Edinburgh (in fact this was the case in the past few weeks). Neither individual event means much of anything about the climate of the planet.
