It's funny because the climate is and has always been changing. So now they're back to the "default" position.

I don't deny that we're probably fucking the environment up, but the amount that people lie and exaggerate about global warming is fucking ridiculous.
The UN released a statement in the late 80s predicting NYC would be underwater by now.
>>
>>74143682
Whatever it is, it's white peoples fault, and an ominous international taxing agency will been needed to "fix" it. You can count on that.
>>
>>74143908
>>Whatever it is, it's white peoples fault,
ironically it's not
china is by far the world's biggest polluter and there's nothing we can do about it besides do what Trump suggested(restrict trade with them until they abide by higher environmental standards)

ecoism beats nationalism/patriotism on all levels
>it doesn't matter what your nationality is, we are all on this earth together and to work as one people to protect it
If we as species were to demand global eco laws to protect us from this 'threat', who would have the authority to enforce the new laws?
It would take a one world govt(NWO) to make that dream a reality.
So the MSM pushes the ecoism meme and the idiot masses end up begging for the NWO to protect them.
It's genius is you stop and think about it.
>>
>>74143833
what humanity is destroying is the soils and the rivers, the seas and the biodiversity, the only impact on climate we have is not industrial but is by cloud seeding justified by bullshit climate pseudo-science.

It's part of the broader meme of capitalism that there are always going to be some psuedo-intellectuals who are able to climb the ladder of academia or the public sector, but don't understand capitalism or common sense, and these people are always going to cling to the idea that capitalism is a generation away from killing us.

>>FOUR PERCENT

Solar power is great.

I own an ISP in the Western Rockies.
My main relay is on a mountaintop.
No signs of civilization for miles.
It runs entirely on solar.
I have two radios and a switch there.
The radios eat 6-7 W/hr each. The switch eats 5.
Total of 17-19 W/hr.

To keep this working year round, I use 4 100W solar panels and 8 110 Ah batteries. The best solar panels I could buy cost about $350/100 W. The best batteries cost $250/110Ah capacity.

Total cost: $3400 (before wiring, secure weatherproof storage, and redundancy).

$3400 to run the equivalent of a nightlight's power consumption (17-19W).

Solar is fantastic. The cost for a land line drop there was over $75,000 not including monthly access charge.

Solar has come a long way, but it's still about 15% efficient. It's a looooong way from saving the world.
>>
>>74146720
I know I should just dismiss you because of your flag and the deliberate misrepresentation of instantaneous power generation being the same as average generation, but I'll give you a few questions to see if you've really thought about solar/wind:

What do you do with surplus power on a large scale? Do you believe that paying neighboring countries/ other producers to use your power is a long term/ profitable solution?

Do you believe that solar/wind can replace nuclear and coal baseload facilities? If so, how? If not then what generation niche do solar and wind meet?

Does the price of electricity matter? Or rather, would doubling or tripling the price be worth it if it meant there was less/little reliance on coal plants?

If your position on solar/wind comes from an environmentalist standpoint, what do you suggest as alternatives for oil products in fuel and plastic production?

We have a 5' base here right now. 39' of total snowfall for the winter.

The trees will start to leaf out in 3-4 weeks. I'm guessing we have one more big storm to come this season.

Average snowfall here is 35'. We're well above average this year. We were last year as well. Good thing, because we were below average in 2013 (32') and 2014 (34').

>Against a background of ongoing protest and low-level sabotage, on the night of January 18, 1982 an RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade attack was launched against the unfinished plant. Five rockets were fired across the Rhône at the incomplete containment building. Two rockets hit and caused minor damage to the reinforced concrete outer shell, missing the reactor's empty core. Initially there were no claims of responsibility.[6]

>On May 8, 2003, Chaïm Nissim, who in 1985 was elected to the Geneva cantonal government for the Swiss Green Party, eventually admitted carrying out the attack. He claimed that the weapons were obtained from Carlos the Jackal via the Belgian terrorist organisation Cellules Communistes Combattantes (Communist Combatant Cells).[7]

You can't cover the country in nuclear plants. There are only very specific places where they can be.

Unless you're a genuius like the Japs who put them on a fucking fault line.

They need to be far away for statistical security from: Tornados, Floods, Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes and half a dozen other natural phenomena that can fuck them up.

Ontop of that, they need to be close to where they are delivering power to, because powerline resistance means every mile you add to the network away from a source is penalized heavily.

This means that the future of power generation is decentral. Ideally every town generates their own power, every household even.

This is why solar energy is subsidized and nuclear energy isn't. It's space efficient and locally independent.

It's less dense by exactly as much as it sticks out at the top of the water.

If it melts down, it results in a net zero increase or decrease of sea levels.

Land ice on the other hand isn't in the ocean yet and does contribute to a raise in sea level and has CONSISTENTLY been going down year after year since we started pumping greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere.

France, I'm talking to a burger, of course you can supply a majority of the power in the small yurop countries with a few key nuclear plants, but the US is HUGE, it doesn't work that way in the US. You can't stick a plant down for a single town of 500 in buttfuck nowhere.

He saying solar power shouldn't be subsidized, I told him why it is. The government wants to shift more energy production near the population that consumes then in a low cost fashion.

A coal plant that supplies 10,000 homes is bound to be less efficient than 10 solar towars supplying 1000 homes each. Simply because of geographic proximity and losing charge over the distance. The closer energy production is to the receiver, the better.

You've given me a news article that is pointing out only what I can assume is a decrease from ~1940 to 1960. A decrease which has been documented in every other graph of annual mean temperature. The problem is, climate change isn't measured over 5, 10, 20 years. Notice from 1880 to 1940 it's an obvious increase?

If you cared to actually cite a source which showed the annual mean temperature up until today you would see that the pattern of increasing temperature continues to go up. We're well aware of of variability, thats why you do it over a long time scale.

The "97% of scientists believe in Global Warming" meme came from an Australian.

Yes, Virginia, Aussies shitposted Global Warming into it's own religion.

>Surely the most suspicious “97 percent” study was conducted in 2013 by Australian scientist John Cook — author of the 2011 book Climate Change Denial: Heads in the Sand and creator of the blog Skeptical Science (subtitle: “Getting skeptical about global warming skepticism.”). In an analysis of 12,000 abstracts, he found “a 97% consensus among papers taking a position on the cause of global warming in the peer-reviewed literature that humans are responsible.” “Among papers taking a position” is a significant qualifier: Only 34 percent of the papers Cook examined expressed any opinion about anthropogenic climate change at all. Since 33 percent appeared to endorse anthropogenic climate change, he divided 33 by 34 and — voilà — 97 percent! When David Legates, a University of Delaware professor who formerly headed the university’s Center for Climatic Research, recreated Cook’s study, he found that “only 41 papers — 0.3 percent of all 11,944 abstracts or 1.0 percent of the 4,014 expressing an opinion, and not 97.1 percent,” endorsed what Cook claimed. Several scientists whose papers were included in Cook’s initial sample also protested that they had been misinterpreted. “Significant questions about anthropogenic influences on climate remain,” Legates concluded.

>Gee well maybe thats a problem with french universities, you frog cunt.

except that happened in many places, we even had a government member that said he doesn't believe in it and was forced to literally vanish off the face of the earth, silencing any possible opposition and then conducing an opinion poll is literally a communist technique of opinion control.

Thats an issue that needs to be resolved in those institutions then. As for "many places", I am dubious.

I haven't heard of any such things happening in Australia. You might be called an idiot, thought.

What should we do with all the Non-Believers anon?

Is an eternity in the Lake of Fire punishment enough, or should they and their families be tortured here too?

Being a filthy Heretic runs in the family, ya know. Where you root out one Denier, you can always find more.

Because science can admit when it's wrong. The mechanism is exactly the same, it's just that we've learned more as technology has developed and we're learned more.
Let me use a similar example to show how dumb your argument is
> smoking causes cancer
> people stop smoking but still cancer
> now caused by red meat
It's because we did studies later that we know meat can cause cancer. It just gets overhyped because news and reporting can't into science.

Please excuse my American female. She know not what she say.

Educated Americans know that global warming heats the planet, causing ice to melt (Ice Caps), causing sea levels to rise, causing mass relocation(eventually), causing resources deletions.

Millions of years of climate and climate changes but we can somehow extrapolate a permanent trend in climate temperatures over a 100 year sample size.

Global climate change was in use during the 1970s and early 1980s. One aspect of that was the greenhouse effect.

Moron mainstream media latched onto OMYGARSH!!T3HGLOBEIZT3HMELTING!!!!!

The scientific community has always referred to it as climate change.

>Buy yourself a rope, advance the world one funeral at a time.

The arguement of a True Believer.

Fuck data and sheeit.

>97% of scientists are True Believers of Global Warming an sheeit!!!!

Really?

>I means, 97% of Climate Scientists be True Beliebers

Really?

>I means, 97% of 41 out of 11,944 papers written by Climate Change Scientists agree.

Read it again. Slooooooooowly.

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because this thread gave me cancer anyway.

My Great-Grandmother smoked her whole life. She told me the story of the half finished Lucky Strike she picked up off the ground when her daddy tossed it diwn and went inside. She was 9. She really started smoking three years later. Always Lucky Strikes. She smoked a carton a week until 14 months before her death. She had a total of 7 children, 16 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren. She buried 6 husbands. Put two of her daughters into nursing homes, and took them both homecooked dinners twice a week for almost 20 years. At 91 she stopped driving. At 94 she sold her home and moved in with my grandparents. At 97 she moved to a retirement home and only smoked 6 packs a week. She died one week after her 98th birthday.

She told me to never smoke because "It's bad for you".

Did you have a point?

Global Warming is used because world temperatures will go up on average

Climate Change is used because that's what is happening everywhere

It's not that hard to understand, is it ?

Also having a shitty spring where it's cold doesn't invalidate global warming. Maybe you had the snowstorm of the decade and Fox News railed about it, but we had the mildest fucking winter I can remember here in continental Europe

The fact you don't comprehend the notion of a global, average change and believe local oddities invalidate it clearly shows why you have the flag you do

This shit, along with the lovely carbon taxes that my fucking shit government is implementing, is just another cash grab.

I will say though, the weather in my area has been fucking weird lately. Daytime it's actually pretty warm. Around 15-20 degrees celcius (celcius is a real word, acknowledge it american spellcheck), yet there's been a few nights where it's dropped down to near 0.

But hey, keep spraying shit in the sky. I wonder what could possibly go wrong.
