Just wait until the Great Appification, when PC's and laptops will use mobile OS's (they're already starting) and the Browser app will quietly switch to a listings index, like old-school Yahoo and Alta Vista were.
Pages will be hosted in the app itself, not externally on the web, and they'll be moderated by Apple, Microsoft, and Google respectively.
After a short while, no operating systems will even have access to the world wide web as we know it. It may even become illegal due to "why would you want to do that?"
The Internet will be declared dead the day www.google.com stops resolving.

nah old internet was awesome because it wasnt so heavily monetized and advertised it was kinda like the frontiers of the wildwest then normies polluted it and corporations took over.
You look at stuff like youtube or streams people did that shit for fun and you could see it was a labour of love. Now everyone does the same shit and follow the same skeleton build in order to make money.
It generally means there will never be any gems out there because all the good people have moved on to greener pastures while everything that used to be good is saturated with attention seeking assholes looking to make a buck.
Social media just went from forum boards and IRC to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Everything became centralized. I blame Steam for a large part of that, it killed off the old forum boards and IRCs that were a staple of the old internet era.
I enjoyed it while it lasted. My parents had their Woodstock, I had my Habbo Hotel.
