Yeah, just open your developer tools window in chrome and look at the 'network' tab... you can see what data a form posts to the server. Sometimes there's some sneaky shit in there, but most sites don't do anything malicious.
Also, you can just learn a whole lot about how websites work by snooping on the traffic going to/from your own browser.
