Democracy is an improvement for the people and therefore society as a whole. Everyone lives better than kings now.

I think the main turning point in history that turned everything to shit was the conception of communism. Every shitty social and economic issue in western nations stems from it.

The communists won the cultural war.

How do you define democracy? Since we're talking about French history here, let me remind you that the first republic wasn't democratic (only a small amount of the population were "active" citizen, if you did not own enough, you were a "passive" citizen). Republics can be democratic, but it's not a synonym.

Also, there was local democracy in medieval France.
For frenchfags, read Demolin's "Le mouvement communal et municipal au moyen-âge" or Demolin's "Les assemblées générales des communautés d'habitants en France du XIIIe siècle à la révolution"

>Everyone lives better than kings now.

This isn't because of democracy in any way.

Aristocratic democracy is the only good form, one which restricts the right to vote to the informed elite.

Please explain to me why allowing uninformed plebs to vote is a good idea? The only good element is that it allows them a non-violent avenue of protest. But this benefit contains within it an implicit recognition of the unfitness of the plebeian, because it reduces their political contribution to a mere token gesture.

In an ideal democracy, one does not vote out of the heart, but out of the head. The plebeian can never accomplish this latter option, because he is not well informed, or worse he is misinformed. The organs of misinformation are well understood by the average /pol/ack, so I shouldn't need to elaborate.

The 1789 constitution was based. Louis XVI was best leader. It's mostly about muh freedums. It's really the 1793 constitution and institutions that are pure cancer. They kept some muh freedums rhetoric because it sells but from the constitution alone (not mentioning all the body of laws) you understand that it's all about "regulating" society. It's mind blowing how the country could fall to almost-satanism in three years.

>>74022008
Top kek. France became in practice a monarchy again in 1799. The 93-99 period is a long streak of atrocities and retardation, or how to turn the most prosperous country in the world into a shithole.

>>74022183
Gun powder was effectively made in Yurop (depending on your autism in deciding what is considered gunpowder). Besides it's useless without guns. Fireworks don't count.
>>
>>74023709
yeah, except if you were a peasant farmer you'd have some other dude who then had all the rights to kill, torture and rape you literally, or take away your wealth, or whatever. Because you know, if everyone is a peasant then sooner or later someone starts asking for protection money. Then you have basically the "nobility", a concept which turned from being chivalrous warrior-knights into degenerate inbreads who spent all day drinking and vomiting while their country was falling apart. That was the basic history of France before the revolution, but pretty much every country ever.

Once you start having problems the "nobility" suddenly had more important things to do than to solve them.

The concept of nobility is not a bad thing, the concept of nobility being passed on undeserly definitely is.

Stability as opposed to elective. Read Montesquieu on that topic: heredity laws are made for the interest of the state, not of the reigning family. On that regard, compare succession between merovingians and capetians and its consequences.
>>
>>74023938
France became a monarchy again and the nobility got replaced like it should've. Revolutions are neccessary for history for this power exchange, when things are bad then you can have some force to replace the system because the nobility will never ever improve itself and why would they?
>>
>>74023691

And you think things got better AFTER the revolution ? The Napoleonic Wars, the Franco-Prussian War, the Crimean War, fucking WWI and WWII ? If you're going to claim that the monarchy lead to a higher rate (not quantity) of war than post-revolution France, please make your case.

The concept of equality in front of law, the concept of social mobility, the concept of state-religion division all came from the French REvolution, and without these Europea would never have had the indsutrial revolution.

Nobility and monarchy without control is a flawed system and it always turned into degeneracy sooner or later.

Kings arent Gods, Kings are dudes who were born into the right family, that guarantees exactly nothing, real life isnt LOTR where every nobility is also a good guy.

Only the first of these is arguably important for industrialism. The second is largely a consequence of industrialism, certainly not a cause.

Ad anyway, industrialism was already underway before any of these were fully realized.

Actually OP, you are already 100 years to late. The cuckening started around 1650, when Oliver Cromwell allowed jews to settle in Britain after they were expelled 300 years prior. In return he got a loan to finance an army to fight the king.

Starting from there, it took only 40 years, so around 1690, to get the first central bank, the bank of england, going under jewish control, creating money from "nothing" and using the fractional reserve banking system we use today. From there they widened their influence.... the french revolution was 100 years later.
