Cars replaced horses because cars can do every kind of labor we use horses for, and they do it better. In order for that analogy to hold any weight, it would have to be possible to create a machine or series of machines that can perform the same kinds of labor as humans, and better.
But you can't. The human brain isn't mathematically consistent, and a machine would have to be. So there will always be some need for human labor.
