What are the chances that it will?
There's already a big group of moderate muzzies in America who are about as muslim as the christian preacher's daughter who takes dick up the ass every saturday night and ask for forgiveness in church the next day
Isis is the Islam reformation, they cut out all the crap that built up over the years and got back to the Koran.

Nah, not in the way you're thinking. 'Moderate' Muslims almost always lose out to the more extreme nutters when the population of Muslims goes over a certain percentage in any given region, because moderate Muslims are technically hypocrite's, the hardcore elements will always take over because they're following the religion more accurately, and will go to more extreme lengths than a modern Muslim to defend following the religious texts so accurately.
Muslims will experience a great deformation.

you cannot reform something that has no central authority
and regarding shias and sunnis, the sunnis have to reform first since they are the stronger and more numerous group.

Not necessarily, if you look at the Ottoman Empire during the European Colonial and industrial eras. The religion was pretty lax granted that the Europeans werent fucking with them as much since they were more interested in the west.
I think the bigger issue stems from globalization and the realization of their relative irrelevancy on the geopolitical stage since they dont have the millitary clout they once had. Islam is a religion that is very paranoid when it is not the dominant force in the region hence the backlash. They're so used to being on top that its become unberable even when they're in a very tolerant society. Did we even really give that much of a shit about them pre 9/11? not really.
It would be extremely painful.
