Literally just backpedal and fire stickies at your feet. Pyros and scouts are no problem. You shouldn't be running at a Heavy at all, you should be attacking him from behind cover.
As a demo I really only have trouble with other demos and soldiers, occasionally a good sniper. Everything else is because I was not set up optimally or not paying enough attention.
