Federal Europe is already a reality, if you look at the shit that's coming out of Brussels you can't really deny it. However, it's without a real federal government because the people don't want to live in a European federal state, so they can't exactly make it official. Now we have an extremely ineffective and very undemocratic pseudo-federal "government" which can't get anything done in Brussels, and 28 states who are trying to work in their own interests, which ultimately results in the same thing - no comprehensive federal regulation. It would be fine if member states could simply enforce their own national policy, but that is also impossible, because while Brussels is not a full-fledged government, it does hold power over member states. So you get the situation in the EU today, where no solutions to the problems, because neither centre of power - the national leaders and the Brussels bureaucratic dictatorship - will give up their power to the other side.
The EU was a mistake.
