The state military is beholden to the governor to authorize military action and/or civilian support missions. I've used PKM before in Iraq, and it has decent stopping power and suppression, particularly when mounted on a stationary platform. The M240 is particularly brutal because of it's sheer accuracy. I could accurately put 20 rounds into every window on a bus from 800m. That's incredible for a 7.62 machine gun.

If Sanders is elected and appoints socialist/communist judges to the supreme court we might see Texas secede. They have their own infrastructure to become a self-contained country and have regular votes to see if they will secede already. If they do and are prosperous, or if they do and Sanders sends the military we might see a potential civil war.
