Russia is still there. And it still has a lot of influence over its former satellite states. They lost Ukraine recently. One would think they weren't even supposed to "have" it anymore.

They had to tighten control over their citizen to compensate for the demoralization and disillusion. More and more people are living paycheck to paycheck, indebted and property-less. People used to have more economic freedom. But they'll keep working. TPTB are clever.
