Spain and Portugal (former Roman provinces) go to the Americas and start colonies.
Hundreds of years later, the descendants of Spaniards, niggers and natives all call themselves "Latinos".
But only pure Spaniards and Portuguese are descendants of the original latinos, which are from Latio, in Italy.
It's as if we call all Americans, Indians or Jamaicans across the board "Anglo Saxons", because they were colonized by the British which were in turn invaded by the Anglo Saxons.
