I don't believe everything is the result of a God/the universe. I believe that if there is a God or "karma" in the universe that He/it would choose to influence certain events based on justice, whether justice means a self-aware, purposeful moral act or the universe creating balance among forces, energies, frequencies, emotions, or whatever. In the case of there being a self-aware being, a God influencing human events because of a "multi-generational, multi-millennia, grand plan," whether it be for human as a species itself or for the entire universe in the grand scheme of things.
I'm somewhere between a Deist (God doesn't interfere with human events) and a classical theist (God interferes with humane events for His own purposes). It makes sense to me that God doesn't care about each and every individual beyond a special few, the "chosen" if you will, who, based on their unique circumstances of history, culture, and person, namely their genetic and cognitive potential, move humanity forward in the direction God/the universe wants the species to go. I find it easier to believe that God/the universe wants to see His/its Creation "evolve", either physically or spiritually, collectively, rather than have for each individual to reach the Ultimate Ideal. An enlightened state of mind, or "Heaven," perhaps? Becoming one with the universe, physically or spiritually, or "Theosis"? I have no idea. I'm just rambling at this point.
Note: I'm using Christian terminology not because I believe Christianity is correct but that it makes more sense than other modern theology. And because it's what I am, and the West, is more familiar with.
