I descend from Sephardic Jews. Portuguese immigrants to America in 1700s. Slave traders, most likely; married into Choctaw tribe for some reason. Nobody gives a fuck about Sephardic Jews. Arab Jews are ignored pretty heavily, even in Israel.

Let's take the Mizrahim out of the scene for a moment, as I personally don't consider them to be Jewish at all. I've been to many different places, and in the United States you have Jews who identify as Ashkenazi only if you actually ask them about their ancestry, but most of them have Sephardic ancestry as well. The same happens in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, the Balkans, the UK and Israel.
You know the diaspora? It seems only the Orthodox are still widely using these terms and actually keeping their distinct traditions, such as speaking Ladino and Yiddish.
