i'm trying to decide between learning french, german, and spanish
spanish would probably be the most useful, but meh i dont want to learn spanish
french just sounds gay.
i think im going to go with German. it's the least useful where i live, but it sounds great.

English, Russian and Spanish. I can sort of read French, Italian, and Portuguese, of course, as well as get the gist of any Slavonic text.
Conversational use of learnt languages is bloody hard though. Consider rather what would be most useful as a source of information, i.e. what world would you like opened up to you by being able to READ such and such a language? All depends on your own personal interests, of course.

Actually, for an English speaker, conversational Spanish isn't so hard in comparison with many other languages. Depends what you want the language FOR, though. Russian has been VERY useful to me. Very few Germans will speak worse English than you speak German, for instance!
I'd say that it's stupid trying to learn online, though. Go live somewhere a few years. Teach English. Get local friends and girlfriends. Dead easy.

Finnish, Swedish, English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.
In order of learning and in order by skill if u flip swedish and english.
I've been thinking about starting a new one soon, once I have built up my russian vocabulary enough. Nordic/german are so similar it's a little boring even if they would be fast to learn. Arabic could be cool so I can with my fellow countrymen.

Trying to learn another language is useless if you have no way of practicing it regularly. No matter how well you learn it at first, you will inevitably lose mastery of it over time. Being born in a non-English environment is just the best way to be bilingual, because you pretty much get English for free in this day and age.

I speak Indonesian (mother tongue), English (father tongue) and German. German is hard as fuck to learn and pretty useless unless you live in Central Europe. Probably try to learn Jap so at least you can watch unsubbed anime or play jap games.

It`s easy to learn any language. Just trow away all the books, download subtitles in the language you learn. Study the alphabet, read "1000 most popular words" list a couple times a week. And if you see the word you dont understand from the phrase contents, just go look it in the dictionary.

Not really and, the ones who come here speak English pretty well. Also most young people in Spanish-speaking countries do as well so it's easy to get by. My gf is Japanese and fluent in Thai so I really don't need to learn anything other than Russian and Arabic.
Well I am fluent in German and English with a very basic knowledge of Dutch.
German is an absolute blast to use for communication, I mean I sound like a war hardened SS veteran even tho I am ordering a pink milkshake.
If you want a challenging but absolutely useless language try one of the slavic ones, if you want a useful language go for mandarin. It will be useful to know it when the coin slot eyes take over the world in the near future.

Things happen, but it's the life in country, locals have it pretty much the same. Foreigners get into trouble basically because they tend to trust everyone, and the only way to stay fine here is to know who to trust and how to get along.
