Here is the process to get a gun permit here.
1. Fill out the forms, consent to a mental health check.
2. Get two references (can't be family, and some townships require you to get them notarized.)
3. Wait in line to get fingerprinted.
4. Hand in all your forms to the local police station. A police officer must approve the forms, then the wait takes anywhere between 1-10 months.
5. Receive your permit. This permit only covers long-guns, with many restrictions. (No magazines that hold 15 round or more, No AK's or "assault weapons.")
6. If you want to buy a hand gun, a separate form must be handed in and approved, and the form only lasts for 30 days. You must fill out forms for every handgun you wish to purchase.
7. Gun ranges here suck. Expensive, and most of them are hand guns only.
8. If you go anywhere with your gun that's not the gun range, you will be arrested.
