If there were three candidates that had earned some portion of the pledged delegates, an open convention would be possible. An open (or "contested") convention is when nobody wins on the first ballot. At that point, pledged delegates are freed to vote however they want and, at that point, very interesting things happen on the floor and the convention is considered "open", because anything could happen.
But with only two candidates, that's mathematically impossible. One of them (Clinton) will receive a majority of votes in the first ballot and that will be the end of the primary.
If Sanders wants to keep his momentum and build his influence in the party for the agenda that he cares about, then he is already negotiating to give a speech at the convention conceding the race to Clinton and begging his supporters to back her while promising to campaign all over the country for her himself. If he does anything less, he will simply fade back into the buzz of politics and never be relevant again.

I'm not sure what you're referring too. For the presidential race each state has a certain amount of delegates proportional to their population. Each state give 100% of it's delegates to whoever wins the plurality in their state (it's usually 1v1, but sometimes 3rd party)
