One point that should be made: the 2nd amendment wasn't written so you can shoot any porch monkeys trying to steal, kill, or rape you. They saw that government was dangerous, and wanted a way to ensure that they could be fought off. This leads up to my second point. Any technology is open to interference, and it wouldn't be that difficult for a government to design a device that would jam the technology in a "smart" gun. Smart guns are being pushed on us so that we can be weak in the event of a tyrannical government.

Smart gun technology is not a new thing, either.
There's very good reasons, both from an engineering standpoint and a practical one, why personal firearms dont rely on electronics to fire. They need to be extremely reliable and able to function under any real-world conditions.

The caliber isn't just something companies can fix. The chip within the gun is pretty sensitive electronics. Turns out having constant powerful explosions next to those electronics has a tendency to cause failures. I absolutely hate that our schools don't have mandatory gun safety and shooting courses. We have sports are dangerous as football that cause lasting brain damage if not handled correctly (And it usually isn't), and yet we don't teach our kids about firearms.
And it isn't just firearms, don't take me for a gun nut here. The fact we don't have civics courses that teach kids how to vote, the laws of their state, and federal laws also upsets me. We raise each generation more and more disconnected from the rights and expectations society places on them as citizens.
