Cinco de Mayo is some holiday Mexicans don't really give a shit about since it's just their celebration of beating the French in a battle. As they immigrated here a few of them celebrated it and now Americans are poaching it to make it a drinking holiday like St. Patrick's Day or Independence Day (though Cinco de Mayo is shit compared to them since it's so half assed). Second and third generation Mexicans here with no real cultural ties to Mexico anymore but want to feel special get butthurt over that since they think Cinco de Mayo is actually a big deal to Mexicans therefore the drinking holiday we've made it into is belittling them.
