I understand that you choose a starting point, name etc., then you start to expand based on what number you rolled, you can make alliances and stuff.
Now my questions are:
How do the bonuses work (and what are they good for)
If I get to war, how is decided if I win the war, i.e. get new territories etc.

If you control the country completely, you get the bonus
Example: Bonus +4 to your roll if you control Iran completely
The war is won when either you or the enemy is destroyed or you agree to a peace treaty
To get territories you have to roll higher than him

Look at bottom right map, every country you take over has a predetermined bonus. This bonus is added to all of your rolls.
As for wars, you win when the enemy holds no territories and surrenders.

You receive a bonus for filling regions (you gain additional lands every turn based on your bonus)

This varies but generally whoever rolls higher gains lands equal to the difference between their rolls and their opponent's
