>reject the centrepiece of Scott Morrison's budget, the so-called enterprise tax cuts
>reject the retrospective elements of Mr Morrison's superannuation reforms
>propose keeping the 2 per cent temporary deficit repair levy on people earning more than $180,000
>unveil a $6 billion, 10 year spending cut - Labor's single biggest to date - in the form of an $8000 per year cap on loans for students to study at private colleges.
>Claiming that "three-quarters of Australian workers won't receive any tax relief" under the government's formula, Mr Shorten said Labor would stand up for these people while rejecting outright the suggestion he was engaging in "class war".

"It is not 'class war' to disagree with cutting money from families on fifty and sixty thousand dollars in order to give millionaires a tax break," he told Parliament.

"Now is not the time to reduce the marginal rate for individuals who earn greater than $180,000.

"According to the independent Parliamentary Budget Office, this decision is estimated to improve the budget by $16 billion over the decade."

Also in Mr Shorten's sights are the business tax cuts which became the subject of a furious political row on the final day of Parliament.

Under sustained pressure on Thursday, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull refused to be drawn on the 10-year budget impact on his staged cuts, which will drop the company tax rate for companies to 27.5 per cent in the coming financial year.

He said he would only provide four-year forward estimates consistent with the budget convention, despite the government itself marketing its tax policy as a ten-year plan, and announcing that the staged reduction to 25 per cent by 2026-27 would be enshrined in legislation.

This speech reminds me as to why I just can't bring myself to support Labor.

Shorten started out pretty strong, making some great points about the coalition's budget. Then he started to outline some plans that I thought made some sense, such as the negative gearing reform and defending higher education cuts.

But of course, like Labor always does, he began to up the ante and start announcing spending plan after spending plan in a sanctimonious manner culminating in a minute long verbal dick-suck about just how amazing Australians are.

Have they learnt nothing since Whitlam? Stop overdoing it. Pick a few good things to fund, like Whitlam did with medicare and don't overdo it, like Whitlam did with everything else. Especially don't start pushing a lefty social agenda like Whitlam did, I don't think Australians hate anything more.

REMINDER:
Labor want to double our refugee intake to 30,000 Africans and Muslims every year.

If Labor win the election, almost 100,000 Africans and Muslims will flood into Australia before we get another chance to vote them out. Every Australian city will have an Apex gang, every city will have terrorist attacks.

Put Labor and the Greens last or we will be overrun by cunts like this.
>>
>>73050248
That corporate tax cut from the libs was just stupid.

Such a small cut in the rate but a huge loss of revenue. Exposes their poor priorities.
>>
>>73050814
They should have only announced the cuts to the small business tax rate they plan to implement this financial year. I have no idea why they thought announcing the cutting of the general company tax rate down to 25% over a decade would be a good idea.
>>
>>73050248
So if I understand this correctly, they are cutting spending and increasing revenue? Nice.

Anyone else sort of feel like they've vote Labor If It looks like Malcolm will win? I don't really care for either party. I would prefer Liberals in power but I want Labor to hold their balls so they don't go full Jew like Liberals tend to do. If It looks razor close I'll probably vote Liberal but otherwise probably Labor.

Regardless, will be voting Nationalist parties in the Senate

Labor has historically ruined this country every single time it got into power, be it state or federal. If Shorten gets in, you'll have the Unions fudging the books and fucking the nation while the Greens prance about like massive fags and shit on every industry because it may hurt a leaf somewhere.

I don't like that smug republican rat bastard cunt Turnbull but this country can't handle more Gillard shit like Shorten having an iota of power.

The truth is the truth, and is not necessarily politically correct or socially acceptable. As a matter of fact, the truth is by no means politically correct or socially acceptable. So, if you came here looking for some conversation material or water-cooler material, then you came to the wrong website. The truth is greater than man, so it will not bow down to your social needs, personal needs, or insecurities. And, your feeble-minded reasoning does not and cannot negate that which actually exists.

The truth is not a function of human emotions, nor is it catered to the complex dynamics of human culture, interaction, or relationships. So, if the truth makes you feel "embarrassed" or "awkward," then that is your own problem.

As all truth messengers already know, human beings always stand in the way of one trying to spread the truth, via such tactics as peer pressure and ridicule. If one ever mentions the truth to a human being, the human being will quickly attempt to suck that person back into the mindless reality that is referred to, here on Earth, as the "real world." The truth is an enemy of humanity. So, if you are a slave to the human race, then you will forever keep the truth at arm's length. Therefore, you must pick one: humanity or the truth.

Human beings were created (that is, invented) via genetic experiments that were conducted by reptilian aliens. These reptilian aliens, also known as the "Anunnaki" or the "Reptilians," still rule the Earth to this day.

In fact, the Reptilians have indoctrinated you so thoroughly that you are probably too weak-minded to even fathom that they exist. Via religion, science, and other forms of indoctrination (i.e., brainwashing), the Reptilians have steered you (and the rest of humanity) in the exact opposite direction of the truth, to the point where the concept of an alien master/creator is considered to be the ultimate crazy fantasy.

If you don't vote Labor you're unaustralian.

The coalition holds racist and misogynistic views that frankly, belong back in the 50s. Labor is the party of today, they recognise true blue Aussie values like having a fair go, we are a multicultural country and it's unfair to leave our minorities out of the mix and refuse the opportunities of new Australians. Labor is the only party that cares about education and will realistically make a difference and allow YOU to get into uni for an affordable price. Only Labor has based pollies like Based Albo and Based Bill (pic very related). The rich have had it easy for too long and it's time they pay their fair share, only Labor has the balls to deal with the 1% and those toxic mining companies.

If you want some perspective on Australia's political landscape and, a good laugh I highly recommend watching friendlyjordies on Youtube.

Be a patriot, vote Labor [1].

>>
>>73050814
Honestly we really need it.

30% was pretty unreasonable.
Since a significant portion of other countries in the region have lower tax rates and FTAs with us (of which I support), a 30% rate was basically a self imposed tariff to buying Aussie, given that taxes are partially transferred to consumers.

Given the cost of offshoring earnings for companies, if we can take the corporate tax rate down to similar levels to other countries, more big fish will be paying.

The push back from the in group preference is going to get greater and greater. It cannot be stopped,
It's a genetic thing.

If they don't allow it to be done in a civilized manner, it will be done in an uncivilized manner.
History cannot be denied.

First was Hanson who was very civilized about it.
Next was Cronulla which was arguably civilized.
Then we get the UPF who are trying to be civilized about it, there are dark undertones and they quote the Nazis at their rallies.

It's going to get worse and worse, it cannot be stopped.

Why can't those fucks ever do something good without doing something retarded?

Abbott 2019:
Stop even more boats, AND end negative gearing.
>>
>>73061245
what are you on about, the current tax rate is strangling business. The world is trending towards lower corporate tax rates, wtih HK and singapore on our doorsteps, the uk moving towards 17% and the likelihood of america adopting lower rates it would be economic suicide not to lower them. This is honestly what gets my goat, its not us vs them, business and the private sector is the driver behind economic prosperity, not taxes and government spending. A huge portion of Australians are already net receivers of benefits, this is unsustainable and we need to address the problem as to ensure the future prosperity of our children and this country.
>>
>>73061439
>abbott ending negative gearing
fat chance ladfam

There is LITERALLY nothing wrong with negative gearing
If you think there is, you've fallen for labor's tricks

Good job mate, I have successfully been baited
>>

I don't believe industry is so stifled by tax in Australia, and I do think we need the funding to invest in infrastructure and the future. I think business will be spurred better if middle and lower class Australians aren't so stifled by the tax burden. That way it will be easier for them to better themselves with the wealth they do earn.
>>
>>73061596
thats it man, lets address it for what it is, a tax grab. They do what they always do turn to class warfare. The real problem affecting housing is the regulation of land release by state government, thats whats driving up prices.
>>
>>73061832
How the fuck can they be employed if the people paying them are dealing with tax?

from a true free-market economics perspective it's unnecessary. Why should the government have to pay out 'property welfare' if you made a bad decision and are losing money on rent. But of course in the major cities property is anything but a poor investment, and has shown to be over the decades one of the best investments an individual can make. So why should the government have to subsidize property investment when it's continuously been an excellent long term-investment.

It doesn't make any sense.
>>
>>73061596

>>
>>73061832
you clearly have no bussiness experience what so ever, it is bad currently. Talk to a small business owner and they will tell you the impost current red tape and taxes has on their economic prosperity, Also the argument for higher taxes hurts small and medium business more than big business cause it increases the cost of operation leading to larger control over markets by big businesses, I also argue for lower taxes all round but the fact is our corporate tax rate is one of the highest in the world and it is not sustainable and especially as i mentioned the world trend among developed economies towards lower rates. Also as an economist i can tell you higher rates actually lead to lower revenue meaning we have a harder time funding that infrastructure. On the laffer curve we are at the wrong end and it needs to be addressed, its just hard to explain to people this. Mate we all want the same thing we just disagree the best way to get there, all i can say is please look into the benefits of lower corporate taxation using ireleand and singapore as an example.
>>
fuuuuuuuuuuck gota get up at 11 tom moro
>>
>>73062197
except its not, its the same as a business investment.
>>
>>73062501
No you are right I don't have much business experience. But I do know that somebody has to pay for the infrastructure and investment that we need and I think successful businesses are the strongest and most able to shoulder that burden.
>>
>>73050248
People hear actually plan to vote for the Libs when they have shown they flat out hate young people and represent everything bad about boomers.
>>
>>73058442
The US has a progressive tax system too. The numbers are just lower
>>
>>73062781
And the infrastructure can be paid for without the boot of excessive taxation on both the masses and the private sector. I honestly see where you are coming from but at the end of the day it only works until you run out of other peoples money. We will become a banana republic unless we adapt on the world stage, two of the worlds major economies will have corporate tax rates in 20s or lower, our closest neighbors have 20% and less how can you think that companies will continue to have significant operations in Australia when this happens.
>>
>>73062781
but why not have some companies pay for some of this infrastructure directly? ie privatization

You assume the government is the only one who can development new infrastructure or do it most effectively, that isn't necessarily the case
>>
>>73062781
Businesses are not taxed that way, you aren't just raising operating costs for the big ones, you're dragging in the little ones too.
>>
>>73063053
I don't believe it will suddenly spur business and will greatly undercut our revenue.
>>
>>73062821
I'm preferencing them over Labor in the HoR (bottom 3: Lib, Lab, Green - descending order). No major parties are going to be on my Senate ballot though.

>Calling every single fucking (current) PM in our history the worst one ever.
>>
>>73063160
Profit isnt a dirty word and just doesns't sit there. Businesses want to remain profitable in the long term, how do they do that? they increase operations its basic economic principles. As i said mate im never angry when people say what you say, its because they either dont understand the concepts. Both savings and investment form an integral part of an economy that help delivers economic growth. Taxes diminish both those by lowering private savings and reduce private investment. This election is the most important in the last 20 years, we as a country stand on the precipice and we risk being left behind. I love this country and everyone in it but i am worried if we do not change course we will end up like Europe with crippling debt and continuing reliance on government.
>>
>>73063345
Turnbull & ScoMo are fucking lefties with no balls.
>>
>>73063160
Then maybe it's time to cut the pollies massive paychecks and stop paying the retired ones equally massive pensions for jobs they're no longer doing.

Maccas won't keep paying you if you quit, why should we keep paying politicians? If they want cash, they can sign up for the Centrelink pension like they make every other Australian do.
>>
>>73063494
Nah, they're just weak-willed money hungry libertarians without a moral compass.
>>
>>73063541
I agree whole heartily, btw im >>73063405

We as Australians need to have an honest discussion about the role and scope of government and about our future. Its not about left vs right its about securing our economic prosperity.
>>
>>73063616
I'm not sure you understand what a libertarian is.
>>
>>73063669
Libertarian was a poor word choice, I agree. Classical Liberals is probably better suiting.
>>
>>73062197
the government doesn't explicitly pay its a deduction from your taxable income.. its the opportunity cost of trying to increase investment which grows the economy far more than a few more tax bux will

>after LNP posted $22B profit before Kevin07 got elected. It took ol Kev about 1 month to spend it all on handouts to everyone in the country and labelled it a stimulus package.

How was it not a stimulus package? I'm not arguing, just curious.
>>
>>73063937
>imply we wouldn't have had a massive recession without the injection
>implying that we weren't a top performing economy in the years following until the LNP got re-elected

You're an idiot
>>
>>73064077
Depends on the term stimulus. Government spending is always more inefficient that private because it does not allocate resources to the right channels. By enacting those spending programs it provided a short lived hit to the economy but dislodged private investment and wasted real resources. In all honesty given out situation with china the surplus would of been better passed on giving tax rates to the lower and middle class and some corporate concessions.
>>
>>73050740
Fuck that
>>
>>73064077
Well the country had no debt, the economy was quite alright, so why did we need a stimulus package??

It put the country immediately in debt again.

>Labor - Spend spend spend 2 terms
>LNP - Tightass for the next how ever long

Rinse and repeat
>Australian politics
>>
>>73064285

No he is implying given the continued strong private investment in Australia and strong exports to our largest trading partners why the government decided it needed to allocate resources inefficiently and blow it on expedient programs. No one is arguing over the existence of the GFC, only our exposure to it.
