Who /bluecollar/ here?

feels good making good money, having zero student debt, and great job security
>>
i wish but it's impossible to get a good working class job unless you have connections. if i could have gotten into a trade i probably would have done that rather than going to college. but trades are a meme and you need to have a family member in one if you want to get an apprenticeship.

>Job security

Nope. Over saturated field and will largely be replaced by robotics in the future. Your days are numbered, sorry. Just telling you how it is.
>>
>>73024836
I bust ass working as a mover for a buddy of mine. 20$ hour plus tips. Can clear like 240 in a day.
>>
>>73024836
I hear ya. It is nice. I can move anywhere in the US and I can easily scratch out a living. Though, I do wish I had done more in the way of education. I have lots of on the job, but that's it.

>>73024948
That's not true. I started working at a job at 18. Just sent in a resume. Got hired, made like $10 an hour for a year, then got bumped up to 14.50+a truck. Then again up to $23. Then I got into it with the owner, and quit/got fired. Went to work for his competition, was getting $28, and then I quit to start my own company doing general construction. Some days I can pull in like 2k, other days I sit at home and don't do shit.
>>

I feel like this whole fucked up body thing is a meme, maybe 30 years ago you could get fucked over a 30 year period of hard labour, but there are so many availible tools and practices to ease the workers load now a days that you're laughing.

Most guys that work on floors dont crawl around on their hands and knees for example, they have braced carts they kneel in and can roll around, some are even battery powered so you dont have to scoot around physically, its essentially all the hard parts of being on your hands and knees(the physical contact) taken off since you're on a cushion. Maybe if you are working for some small time korean that wants you to lift shingles 5 stacks high up 3 flights of stairs all day sure, but now a days the road workers are just there to dig 30 minutes a day and watch the machine work the other 8 and a half.
>>
>>73028472
Police, if you go to the right department. Austin and Fort Worth are both hiring, both starting at $50k+ annually with full benefits and retirement and opportunity for mucho OT. Relatively safe as far as large cities go, you're unlikely to get ambushed by dindus like you would in Baltimore or Chiraq.

DO NOT DO THIS ON THE COASTS, YOU WILL HAVE A BAD TIME. Texas PDs are pretty much completely uncucked but the guys that lateral in from California or East Coast departments have nightmare stories about how much their hands are tied in doing their jobs.

Dropped out of HS and went to Alaska when I was 17. I got hired as a laborer for a construction company. I worked a few summers for the company and eventually the boss started trusting me enough to run Machinery. During my 4th summer up there and 2nd operating machinery, I met a guy on a job site who was looking for operators on the north slope oil fields. I got my CDL during the winter and went up there the following summer. Now I make ~80k driving trucks and operating machinery on the oil fields in only 4 months. I NEET the rest of the year in Colorado doing nothing but getting high and shitposting/playing vidya 16 hours a day. I'm leaving to head back up there in 2 weeks. I might have a spot on a crab boat in November through a guy I know as well, which would mean I easily clear 100k this year for less than 5 months of work.

I don't have much experience with coal besides an internship at an underground mine owned by one of the larger companies.

For miners they'll start you off at $80k-$110k depending on how much you're willing to work, obviously the medical and stock options are top notch as well. You can get up to $180k without a college degree assuming you don't go into management after you work there long enough. Engineers start at $85k with bonuses bringing them up to $110k nowadays (used to be about $150k starting for a go-getter when the coal industry was booming because of the $60k bonuses) and obviously that goes up the higher into management you get.

I personally work in aggregates, far more stable and you still get to travel and make a bunch of money after you pick up a master's.

yes they are. parents traditionally only fund kids in the US throughout high school and then they are kicked out on to their ass to face the world. it's very much a social stigma here to live with parents past the age of 18.

Gotta get commercial if you want to work year round.

Plus ill be licensed for wholesale here soon so ill give my contractor the finger and watch the manufactures offer me trucks and equipment at near cost.

With a complete installation, on the residential level, I could fetch 7000plus of profit in one days work.

All I would have to do is find some kid for 150 a day and have him lift the shit around.

I tend to stay away from commercial installations because of liability, but ill service them all day.

Same here. I was kicked out when I was 17. I went to the navy for a year, but I didn't really get any good work experience. Now is really not the time to try to break into American mines. The industry is in the shitter and they are cutting corners wherever they can. I couldn't tell you exactly what your chances would be, but the place I worked had 8 women miners out of 700 total and 2 black guys. 0 international workers as far as I know. It's not like they need to bring in international workers when there are hundreds of unemployed coal miners with experience dying for a job.

Also, idk what your hours were like in Norway, but to pull in $130k a year in the US you'd need to work there at least 4 years and be working Saturdays and Sundays.

Every state has their own journeyman requirements and tests so check those out first and see which route best suites you.

Also you'll need cfc certification from the EPA which is 100$ a test here where I live. -try and get the universal and not just type 3.

Definitely in the southwest with all the heatpumps (doubles as both ac and heater, next to no longevity because of the work it has to do year round, etch)
