As if erecting trade barriers and stifling economic growth wasn't enough... he now wants to make it illegal for the unskilled among us to work.

If there's unemployment for the unskilled, that means the minimum wage is too high. Economics 101. Any wage is better than $0/hr
>>
Oh no, the goyim might get higher wages!
>>
>>73022283
Damn, guess they shouldn't have been worthless and learned a skill.
>>
>>73022283
No thats not it. Unemployment sources from many things including shit like outsourcing, businesses shutting down or laying off people.

Unemployment and minimum wage aren't only based on "well if some unskilled shitter is unemployed that means the minimum wage is too high"

Fact of the matter is that the cost of living has gone up drastically but minimum wage hasn't gone up since like 2009
>>
>>73022425
Guess the government shouldn't have made it illegal for them to earn their first job and learn vital skills.

No wage is lower than an illegal who also has no rights and can't report OSHA violations.

time to send a tip to your state labor board and have them send a surveyor
>>
>>73021825
If he gets rid of the mexicans, the wages in the country will increase as the supply of cheap labor goes down
>>
>>73022435
I'm not talking about 'transitional' unemployment, which will be present whether government hampers the economy through absurd trade barriers and minimum wage laws or not.

Or business cycle unemployment, which is caused by a misallocation of resources due to interest rate signals.

I'm talking about unskilled laborers, who would love nothing more than to get their first job and learn vital skills being told it's illegal for them to work because of government fiat.

>>73022887
And consumer prices will go through the roof, causing millions of lost jobs according to Bloomberg. An absurdly stupid idea to rid yourself of cheap labor, cheap consumer goods and low cost of living. You can say all but good-bye to the middle class at that point.

Enough. I'm done with this socialist. I'm now a Hillary Supporter. This filthy marxist nazi racist needs to be stopped no matter what. This "job creation" shit needs to end. Americans don't have a right to high-paying jobs. They have a right to the jobs the market gives them. If that isn't enough to live on, they need to die, simple as that.
>>
>Make America Great Again
>No disposable income for you!
>>
>>73024031
You don't have a right to disposable income. You aren't owed a living or an existence. Trump seems to have forgotten this. It's time for us Libertarians to punish him at the ballot box.
>>
>>73023832
Prices will go up A LOT FASTER than wages, ushering in Cuba/North Korea type poverty for us.

Remember, wages are sticky --

Donald Trump was saying that he is hoping taht with the creation of jobs people will have higher wages. The other dude actually tried to have him name a number

>TRUMP IS A SOCIALIST!
These Clinton operatives are too much, it's like they actually believe we won't read past the headline.
>>
>>73021825

I actually looked into this a while back and minimum wage is much lower than what it was in the 1960s and so on (comparing inflation). It actually might be a good idea, but I'm not an economics expert, so yeah.

Just being objective here.
>>
>>73024232
Fuck it, you know, the entire country is going under, we should put all our chips on Trump. As if it can't get any worse anyway.
>>
>>73021825
I see you are late to the party, OP.

There has never been a dime's worth of difference between Trump and Hillary. They have been buddies for 25 years, the Trumps and the Clintons.

I have been preaching this since last June: Trump's only job has been to make Hillary seem reasonable and electable, because she could never be those things otherwise.

Job well done. The next few months will see him go over the top to make her look like the better candidate.

/pol/ is always wrong. You forgot that, OP.
>>
>>73023968

How much do they pay you shill?
>>
>>73024366
Making it illegal to work is never a good idea.

If unskilled laborer A produces $6/hr of goods, what business in their right mind would want to hire him for $15/hr? He'll be permanently unemployed and the economy will be deprived of that $6/hr of goods manufacturing.. and worst yet, he'll be a welfare leach.
>>
>>73023375
>/pol/ has always been a libertarian board. Have we forgotten the Ron Paul revolution?
The revolution that never happened and left a bunch of white people disolution so they went after something that could really help them. Why do you think Richard Spencer talks about how so many of the young people he talks to came to the alt-right from the Ron Paul campaign.

Libertarianism on /pol/ was just a fickle phase if not just a mask to support literally anything but more leftism.
>>
If he can actually create more jobs in higher skilled areas and push more people into higher education, then he can get away with raising the minimum wage. $15 USD seems like it'd be a little high considering the sheer population of the US though
>>
>>73024111
You are though, inasmuch as it is illegal to live off the land without paying taxes you are entitled to compensation. Or make it possible to not participate in society and enjoy the bounties of nature that belong to everyone.

True but the minimum wage is also a major contributor in an economy with far too many unskilled workers and a decreasing demand for their labour. Unskilled workers don't only need to compete with eachother but also with undocumented workers and with computers who can do their job with greater efficiency. If you increase the minimum wage further than it already is all it will do is increase the investment in automation and an increase in the structural unemployment in the US.

I don't get it
Did anyone read the article?
It's a couple of fucking paragraphs

> “You have to have something you can live on. But what I 'm really looking to do is get people great jobs so they make much more money than that, much more money than the $15.”
"get great jobs... much more than $15" doesn't mean minimum wage. sorry but It's just meaningless filler.
> “I'm looking at that
This phrase is so often used as a non-answer it has become a sarcastic meme.

> “If you start playing around too much with that lower level number, you are not going to be competitive,” he said, before reiterating that he's “open to doing something” with the federal minimum wage.

Can some one present me with something more concrete. It's a full blown presidential race now and hear-say like this doesn't cut it.

Rand VP ?
He is going to need a good one.

Well spoken, but /pol/ needs to realize trump is just the next phase who will come and go. There is no real ideological base here.
>>
>>73021825
He's trying to bring in the less crazy Bernie voters.

This shit is just persuasion. He isn't going to say "no minimum wage increases ever" because the left will just cry about how he's a heartless bastard and hates the working class and the Bernie voters will tune him out on economy.

Instead he says he'll look into it (a non-answer) and proceeds to talk about how it would be better to bring in more jobs that make higher wages.

Trump is literally trying to subtly convert Bernie voters from socialist to capitalist. The crazy thing is that it could work.
>>
>>73022435
>Fact of the matter is that the cost of living has gone up drastically but minimum wage hasn't gone up since like 2009

This really just calls for examination of the rise in the cost of living, not fucking with the price system
