I am not against using fuel, I use fuel every day and like to use it. However I am a woodsman and fully understand the need for something to be self-sufficient. Why are we right wingers so outright against these things? Is it purely a profit argument? I just have the hardest time understanding this. Obviously those environmental nutjobs are silly, the earth is going to shake us off like a bad case of fleas as george carlin would say... but that doesn't even begin to argue against making things better through innovation. Only profit can argue that, and I would argue that as humans, the great puzzle solvers of this planet, would create profit elsewhere with their new found efficiency. Don't you want to beat other countries in these markets, as you would want to beat any country in any other market?
To be entirely honest, if the GOP added clean energy and efficient energy reform to their platform they would have some moral high ground that is usually held by liberals, however, it is as far as I could imagine also in the best interests of right wingers.

Nuclear energy is the best of both worlds to be honest, but it's very hard for commercial nuclear power plants to operate, most are partly government owned, while coal & gas powerplants provide cheap energy from the private sector / not relient on the government. Of course I have nothing against reducing emissions like SOx and NOx but CO2 is harmless. We can't swap fully to nuclear yet because it's too expensive at the moment.

Nothing stops you form buying a small wind turbine for your house if you want, if you live in the country side.
Buying solar panels for your house is fine too if you want, but don't force others to do so. If you argue that man made climate change is real you need policies,legislation and executive power to prevent it from happening. Interfere with peoples lives. The left loves this.
If you argue that man made climate change is not real you don't do any of that and leave everyone the fuck alone.
Now lets talk economics:
What the left wants is slow down capitalism - make it stop. They don't want to save the planet (i'll explain why). What they want is a slow transition into a planned economy. They want to make all the rules and regulations about how companies operate, what car you drive. Complete control over nature included! They want to be the masters of it.
Here is a crucial thing: Nobody on the right hates "clean energy/alternative energy/non fossi fuels" .. its just a meme spouted by anti capitalist leftists. Why? Because the right loves capitalism and the free market. If its efficient to use clean energy, produce solar panels it wil lhappen without someone making a law for it!
That way we will ultimately end up in a society of clean energy but ONLY if it makes sense economically and does not hinder our progress into achieving it.
I'll argue that the left slows down this progress on purpose! They STOP us from advancing faster than we could by making stupid regulations and laws for corporations and private citizens.
We could spend more money and resources on the development of alternative energy sources if we had more freedom to do so.
The lefts policies are also counter productive to their own cause - a good example for this is the german government subsidizing solar panels when they were inefficient to produce You needed more "non clean energy" to produce them than you get out of them.
Capitalism and advancements in this fied through competition obviously corrected this already!
