You know that they'll blame all their suffering on being part of the UK for years and the SNP will probably say bs like "our dependence on the English crippled us but Scotland will rise again" before joining the EU and negating any benefits of "independence." The only way to change their socialist ways is by showing them that a conservative, right-wing government doesn't necessarily mean a second Thatcher but actually means economic sensibility and social values.

UKIP. They'll never win, and it will split the right wing vote, but we need to play the long game here. No meaningful change can be made until brexit, so we need to put pressure on the conservatives to adopt more reasonable positions to win back votes. Once we're out, we can start thinking about voting conservative again, and hopefully they'll have taken note that they're losing votes by not being nationalist enough.
