A supportive theory was because of the mass expanse of all that land, and winter season, cattle were too valuable to just club them dead and eat the meat for a few days. Eventually the people figured to try drinking their cattle's milk and learned creating cheese so they'll have more food over longer period of time.

I actually developed a milk addiction. I didn't believe it was a thing until a doctor explained it. I have loved milk ever since I remember. When I was 28, i was having episodes of sleepwalking in which I would stand at the fridge and chug milk straight from the jug. Even when I was awake I craved milk and would sometimes drink half a gallon during my shift at work. Thinking, I had some kind of health issue I went to the dr.
Apparently, milk or any food can cause a dopamine reaction just like drugs leading to addiction. I now allow myself one glass in the morning and one at night. The symptoms have went away.
