The bucketman kind of wears a mask. And it isn't as hard as it sounds. Once you learn to move around a lot, and be active with the guitar, you can get to putting your teeth on the guitar not long after. I can only do it with simple tunes about the E strings, but someone any quantity better than I am could do it all over the board.

buckethead is pretty fucking good at guitar, dude.
he plays and writes many different styles of music. he is at the bleeding edge of technical proficiency. he has an ear for tone. he has taste and uses it when he arranges music. he's constantly writing new material and constantly growing as a songwriter and guitar player.
He might not be 'the best', there is no 'god' of guitar (or anything else) but as far as modern guitarists go he's on the short list of greats.
I don't even like the guy but I can respect his ability and dedication to his craft. As a musician I find it fascinating how he's constantly writing and releasing new material, the methods he goes through hashing out a new riff or entire song, etc. It's incredible to watch him take one motif and turn it into an entire song in a matter of minutes in real time.
So how about this list of dozens of guitarists, living and dead, who are as proficient and prolific as buckethead? I can think of many who play well, I can think of less who are as prolific, but I cannot think of many who do it in so many genres and styles.

If you play in any rock band for years you can do whatever Buckethead can do, the question here is if you want to do what Buckethead does. Many rock group guitarists have solo albums, since rock music leans towards guitar lead. You should check mp3 sites, since many can't release their music, since they don't have a record label. But you being seriously limited if you think that a guitarist that plays rock music for 5 years or more in a band can't learn to play Buckethead. Playing somebody else's notes is one thing, other thing is remembering and making your own songs.

You can release a guitar genius album pretty easy these days, but will you ever hear that genius live?
