Why are you not a minimalist yet /pol/ ?

Im not talking about the radical version where one owns a blanket and 1 t-shirt and walks around like a bum.

Im talking about getting rid of unwanted materialistic bullshit we don't need to free ourselves from the eternal jew.

I for one got rid of most things i never used, needed that just ruined the living space around me.

I feel like i am able to live a more free life now. It feels great.

If you feel like you are getting crushed by the weight of material possession minimalism might be for you.

Additional benefits:

Less expenses, more financially responsible behavior, more freedom, more time to think freely.

The ultimate question is ... What do we really need and what does the jew wants us to believe what we need?

Go figure it out for yourself!

Consumerism stimulates the economy. Frankly I don't see why everyone's so against it. A better economy usually means a higher standard of living.

The ultimate red pill is the blue pill. After a while you recognize that happiness is more important than truth. Because life is short and nothing really matters.
>>
>>72632430
There's quite a bit of difference between anti-materialism, and the minimalist aesthetic as it relates to art. I find it gaudy in its own way. Things like that are essentially lifestyle porn, a facet of consumption.

Anyway, the biggest change an individual can make is to accept the idea of access vs ownership. The radical idea of sharing, and only having possession of things when you need them.
>>
>>72632430
There are many benefits to minimalism.
Most could benefit from just reducing their clutter if they are too much of a pussy to go all out.
>>
I don't associate myself with any "movement", I buy high quality things that last, and those things are only what I need. For example I like this shaving cream that costs $20, but with a badger hair brush and a safety razor I get a close shave in two light applications of it. One of those tubs can last almost two years, depending on how often you shave.
>>
What items do you recommend to get rid of?
>>
>>72632580

like i said its not about it being a radical ideology or being autistic about it

its just a general mindset to avoid stuff like this

>>72632791

>hurr durr let me spent all my money who cares lol i could be dead tomorrow

its what the jew wants us to believe. They dont want us to be free.

>>72632930

exactly

>>72632818

im not anti materialistic .. everyone enjoys different things i just like the more mindful approach about possessions and thinking about usefulness

>>72632996

thats a minimalist mindset

>>72633039

theres no such thing. Everyone has to decide it for himself.

I mean some people live in rooms and still have them cluttered with stuff they didnt even touch for a few years. Whats the point of this.

Some people go out and buy and buy one useless thing after another for no reason at all only to store it away and never use it again.
>>
>>72632791
But materialism is a byproduct of excessive consumerism, and materialism is what spawns degeneracy.

I've heard this one time and it makes sense:
Think of your face as peeling a potato,
what would shave more skin (after the hair)
the gillete 4 sharp razors, or 1 sharp razor?
the gillete will remove the layer of hair with 1-3 blades and then it will cut the skin.

I don't know, but it seems legit

I agree, OP. I already have my apartment mapped out for after I graduate from college. I hate clutter.

My strategy is to keep a large box for stuff I have the impulse to horde, and I keep it away from sight. When it's full, I clean it out and still keep the stuff I still want to keep. That way, I get that impulse out without complicating my life or living situation.
>>
Never thought of minimalism as a pill.
I live very minimalist (barely even have any furniture) and for me it's just natural. Less stuff to keep clean, less shit to worry about. It does bug me how when other people see my place they look like they're in shock and think it's incomprehensible.
>>
The key isn't to deprive yourself of anyti ng. It is to become clear headed about what you need and what you want and what you don't need. Some home decor relaxes the mind more than stark bare walls. Institutional simplicity can be as mentally stressful as clutter.

No, you are talking about the version where you pain 1000 bucks for a chair because of it's minimalist look. which means you're even more enslaved since you're now using more money to get less stuff. if you were talking about the first you would have a point but you specifically rejected that one.
>>

>>
>>72637531

Not OP, but I don't intentionally lead a "minimalist" life, but spending 3 years living in a 2mX2m box and being poor left me with some bad habits.

Even now I get all my stuff for a fraction of the price, second hand.

>>72636393

this isnt about using specific furniture in a specific style

i just had to use a picture

Are you an idiot? The majority of minimalists would be well-educated financially secure individuals who prefer a clean, uncluttered and functional living space, as opposed to a living space full of junk and needless trinkets that do nothing but complicate your life, gather dust and create a more unhealthy living environment.

This summer I'm going full minimalist, and if my girlfriend doesn't like the fact that she's going to have to get rid of her shit, then she's getting fucked out too.

Hiring a skip in June when I have some time off. Time to take out the trash. Can't fucking wait.
>>
>>72632791
>Consumerism stimulates the economy.

Being minimalist does NOT mean that you don't consume. It means that you are simply more discerning about what you do consume. I have a lot of old shit in my place that holds some sentimental value, but it's actually a burden to keep it, because it needs space and makes keeping the place neat, tidy and clean harder than it needs to be. For this reason, these things will be sold on ebay and the proceeds put to better use.

Minimalism is half of the equation for success and happiness.

To be happy means to want little, but also get what you want. Reduce your wants via self-discipline, then what desires remain you satisfy. It is equal parts minimalism and hedonism.

Minimalism alone is meaningless and depressing, hedonism alone is hardly hedonism at all, for constant indulgence only reduces the overall satisfaction derived from the indulgences to nothing over time.

A person who is fully satisfied with a cup of tea once a day is infinitely more happy than the person who completely abstains from tea, or the person who overindulges in tea and drinks it so often it begins to taste like water.
>>
>>72639190

minimalism does not equal abstinence

it does not mean that someone HAS to do this or THAT or else "it" "wont work"

Probably the better way to look at it is resisting dilettantism, which is common. People buy a bunch of things and use them once or twice, then they collect dust, and then there is this clutter.

If we only actually bought the things we use regularly, we'd have very little.

- Good cooking utensils if you cook regularly, if you don't, why do you have all of that elaborate cookware?
- Exercise equipment but you're a fat fuck and/or just go to the gym or do outdoors activities to stay fit
- A big TV even though you watch everything on youtube on your PC
- A box of condoms and 6-sided sex position dice, even though you couldn't get a woman to fuck you if your life depended on it.

People buy things because they want to be associated with something new, because their life is boring, because modernity is fucking boring and predictable.

If you think something is new and exciting, you can go on youtube and watch someone who is the master of it, and instantly become bored that THAT person has been doing it for ages, and you'll only be some fucking amateur at best.

The era of "best known" belongs to antiquity and small neighborhoods. You'll always be a fucking loser who isn't as good as the guy on the TV show.

Just fuck off.

I don't care about stupid trendy shit. I own only stuff I need, I throw out what I don't need. My place is still cluttered and there's nothing trendy about it.

This isn't a binary choice. It's not like you have to choose between being a stupid mindless consumer and a trendy faggot who doesn't own a table so he can post on twitter about how superior he is for not having a table.

>>
>>72641310

>>
>>72632430
ACTUALLY

I've adopted minimalism long ago... so clearly this thread is not for me but whatever. I'll give my opinions.
I've naturally noticed that I generally support simplicity with everything, my home, my clothes, the shit I own, how my smartphone and computer is used etc.

I don't have a lot of furniture, but the furniture I do have is not cheap shit. I have this baller leather coach set in my living room, a nice little coffee table and a 4K TV hooked up to a Shield TV for actual 4K content. Around my house I have some frameless wall art hanging around and my own bedroom is literally no more than my own bed - a chair and my closet... nothing else.

My closet is also simple. I threw out all my jeans and now I primarily own a couple of simple canvas pants (They look better, more formal and they're way more comfy than jeans) some t-shirts and shirts. Of course there's other stuff like hoodies, ties, belts and stuff like that. But again nothing in excess.

I literally have at most two pair of shoes at any given time. Right now I'm actively only using one pair of shoes with a pair of loafers I have somewhere.

I don't have ornaments all over my house, picture frames all over my house, a bunch of gadgets all over my house, the usual stuff I see in other people's homes I see.

And all that being said I consider myself a consumerist, I believe in a market economy... I just don't do a whole lot of buying. But when I do buy I usually buy it properly, I don't try to cut corners.
>>
>>72632430

I'm probably a minimalist, relatively speaking.

No cellphone.
No facebook/twitter/etc.
No television.
I use e-mail and telephone absolutely the minimum amount.
I eliminate all advertising from my life, as much as I possibly can.
I don't buy entertainment products -- I just download bittorrent.
I have just a simple, average-sized house.
I don't have a fancy car, just a Prius.
I travel very little.
I very rarely eat at restaurants.
I don't work -- I'm retired.
I joined the cheapest fitness center I could find, and I go there every day.
My main goal in life is to learn stuff, to eat healthy food, and to achieve physical stamina and low body fat.

I'm rich, so I could live like a king if I wanted to, but I just choose not to. All that materialism just feels weird and phony to me -- it's not who I am.

What about collecting things? I think less consumerism is better than some weird form of extreme consumerism but toned down materialism (the kind demonstrated in the ops pic). If you find something interesting by all means enjoy it, but don't get so attached that you are upset if it's lost or stolen.
>>
>tfw room is messy but everything in it with the exception of two lucky star figurines has some kind of immediate use.
>>
>>72643199
I wouldn't think collecting things is against minimalism.

Collecting things shows a very genuine interest... but a lot of people in today's society seem to buy stuff they don't need. More pair of shoes and pants than they can ever wear, useless furniture etc.
