Despite the asshole and pos that Jobs was, it's undeniable that he know how to fucking run the company.

Since his death, product after product has been a rehash of an older product or a slightly improved version of the same product.

They can't keep doing it anymore. They've lost their creativity and they are facing their inevitable crawl into obscurity.

Got to say, I'm not all bummed by that.

I'm hearing it's mainly China. Sales fell dramatically, though Apple says it's because they were so high in the first place.

Chinese companies have also developed better and cheaper phones.

Im not bummed either. I was always rooting for Microsoft, and I'm glad to see that they have finally pulled their shit together just as apple begins to collapse

The main reason for this isn't falling sales btw. It's just that they projected sales increase when there wasn't one. They thought the Apple watch would sell more, but it failed miserably.

Hahahahaha, fool anon, I may despise Apple, but my disdain for Microsoft surpasses that of Apples 100fold.

Have you not at all been keeping up with Microsoft's bullshit with Windows 10?

If you're not really invested or involved in the actual professional industry, I don't blame you actually. The bullshit and hoops they make us perform in Windows 10 for things that used to work in previous versions of Windows is maddening and infuriating.

Word around the rumor mill is that Windows 10 is the last version of Windows and it will just be updated periodically with update overhauls. It's the absolute worst steaming pile of shit Microsoft has ever pushed out to date.

See pic related and then tell me how Microsoft has "pulled their shit together:

http://fortune.com/2016/03/12/googles-go-computer-vs-human/

https://deepmind.com/

Go, Jeopardy. Just the tip of the iceberg.

Just wait until quantum computing memory storage makes available all combined human knowledge into a single memory storage site and then the retrieval and processing, cross referencing and analysis of that information is available to a single A.I.

Software employment is the very least of our worries.

We have no contingency plan for creating technology that makes human meat bags obsolete.

We have a contingency plan to invade Canada, but not a plan to handle the human race becoming an intellectual ant in comparison to A.I. self aware sentient life.

We literally cannot convince 1 billion humans to shit into a container instead of shitting in the streets, how would an intelligent life that has a 500 I.Q. or a 1000 I.Q. look at us.

Humor would be irrelevant, only humility and pity.

The hope the A.I. would reach a hand down to pull us out of our dark ages instead of crushing us underneath a boot.

Honestly /g/ memes aside Jobs was great for the tech world. The GUI would have languished for years at Xerox and he accelerated its adoption by at least a decade. The work he did at NEXT was great. He saw opportunities everywhere like in Pixar and snapped them up providing them with the money and obsessive impulse towards perfection that they needed to succeed.

Jobs was an excellent businessman and Apple is much less of a company without him. The unfortunate thing is that I don't see any other companies ready to step up and push the markets forward in the future.

Apple, Google, Microsoft, all these tech companies will soon suffer from the same malaise - hardware advancement will slow to a crawl within 5-10 years as the limits of Moore's law become felt.

Circuits cannot keep shrinking beneath 10nm indefinitely, bar a breakthrough out of nowhere, or a paradigm shift from integrated circuits to a new form of computing (like the switch from vacuum tubes to circuits in the first place). Eventually, hardware will be fairly static.

There will be no optimization left to squeeze. No new software left to be developed for desktops or phones - all needs and niches will be covered.

There used to be a points to upgrading your CPU every 2 years, now there isn't (even for gaming).

Where will all those computer engineers (hardware) go?
Where will all those computer programmers (software) go?

Without a miracle, there is going to be a massive employment dark age in the tech industry within a decade. Fuck what you heard about robotics, artificial intelligence, automation, all that shit. If the hardware gets stuck, there's a few years of optimization left at max (requiring very smart dudes, not your typical college grad), and then R&D gets laid off, simple as that.

Indians love Microsoft for some reason. Now that the CEO is one of their own, it's probably turned into cult-ish levels of dedication.

I don't know about hardware, but for software you're clueless. There really are so many new applications that need to be written.

You're just dense and cannot envision them until you see them.

how will apple survive with the death of trailblazing CEO tim cook?
>>
>>72578386
Also think about it, just because there is a size limit on transistors doesn't mean hardware is done.

There are new paradigms, such as hardware virtualization that can also be improved. You're just not thinking outside the box.

Of course there are many new applications to be written. But guess what? Companies like Microshaft and Faceberg are not centered around that model.

The shit they make is inane and pointless drivel only to bring forward more profit at the end of the day. They don't care about making the world better. They just use their consumers as a front end of parasitic profiteering. They make money without actually bringing forth something truly useful for society.

So really, no my point isn't invalidated.
