I've never understood how NEETs manage to convince themselves that they are actually the smart ones.

Willingly imprisoning yourself in the same 12x20 box for your whole life is some Brave New World shit

Assblasted stemfag who couldn't find a job detected
>>
>>72523296
>implying I'm NEET
I just didn't fall for the STEM meme because my parents weren't fuckwits telling me to get a degree that would be useless by 2010 due to oversaturation, and instead encouraged me to pursue a degree I was interested in.
>>
>>72523404

If you're happy with your choice, why are you so bootyblasted about STEM majors?

I went to an engineering college and literally everyone I know is employed and makes >55k.
>>
>>72523708
What's your age? Times are changing, and while I know OP is baiting, it really is getting harder to get a job. CS guys are getting crushed by foreign competition, and the chemical engineering market took a shit when the oil prices collapsed

I don't get why STEM is pushed so hard on here as being something successful.

All that STEM does is guarantee you a life in the middle-class. It doesn't make you rich, it just makes you comfortable. You're still a pleb and will not ever actually contribute anything or make a name for yourself or ever become rich, you will live a comfortable life with a 3-4 bedroom house in nice area, have a fat wife and some kids, have a mortgage and other typical middle-class stuff.

Being a good boy and going through the education system, studying everyday, doing well on assessment and exams, getting that pretty good paying job at that nice place in the city with pretty good benefits, that isn't going to get you rich. That's going to get you comfortable.

If you want to get rich, you need to work outside the sandbox that is the education system and job market. You need to pick that sand-box up and shake all the sand out of it and fill it with your own substance.
>>
You should still go for STEM if it is something that you are truly passionate about. If all you want is money, go for a humanities or an arts degree. But if you want to follow your dream, go for STEM. Who knows, you might actually get to make your hobby of working with STEM into an actual JOB one day! Sure, you won't be earning much in a STEM field and the hours are INSANE, but look at it this way: You will get to work with STEM, ALL DAY. Money and status isn't everything and getting to work with the one thing in life, that you are truly passionate about and feel that you can express yourself through, STEM, makes it worth it all. Leave 'success' to the kids in the Social Sciences, you are a Dreamer.

Not if you're talking about job placement. It's down there with liberal arts when it comes to kids not being able to find work out of college.
>>
>>72525369
It's an artificial problem caused by people actually worse than liberal arts, at least they stay home and act pretentious on tumblr, it's when they're actually working and implementing SJW policies and writing CoCs.

Also, outsourcing takes a chunk out of jobs too..
But only junior positions because then companies that use outsourced resources then have to hire a senior developer to fix up the bullshit they get back. In a better world something would exist to prevent this, it'd be beautiful to watch Trump try.
>>
>>72525369
every degree is down there with liberal arts if you're too stupid to get internships

plus you have a shit ton of people who have terrible skills socializing with others
>>

>>

What's your major? Internships aren't an absolute requirement for most jobs unless you majored in STEM. Internships always look better on your resume but depending on your field you won't be automatically discounted for not having done one.

Honestly, the people who call STEM a meme are just upset that it won't instantly grant you 100k starting with 0 competition.

It's not like there are many other degrees that are much better either way. The only other good option is medicine.

You should probably work on your reading comprehension. He said he has a pizza delivery job, which leads to late nights, followed by early morning classes, then mentions his low GPA. You're retarded if you don't infer that he's blaming the pizza delivery job (late night work) on his inability to succeed in early morning classes.

The thing people are doing wrong is that they have no hands on experience when coming out af a university with engineering degree.

First you wanna do a trade school, then obtain an engineering degree.

As opposed to willingly agreeing to a huge fucking debt burden, long boring classes and test after test after test, just so you can go work for someone smarter than you?

The problem with STEM-fags isn't that you think you're smarter, it's that in your ultra autism, you never stopped to ask yourself how much of your life you're going to burn away to achieve your dream job, which ultimately leaves you bored, in debt and middle aged before you're close to being free again.

By that time, you're married, burdened with a wife that stopped giving you blowjobs and now have 4 screaming brat kids who hate your guts, because you spend all day at work trying to supply your whore coal burning wife with her dream life, which includes fucking black bucks while you're at work counting your legos, like a good little autistic goy.

There is no self reward for autist STEM nerds. The reward for you idiots is the obsessive compulsive lifetime work, while your body withers away and you never learn more about yourself or the world.

You just keep stacking those legos, cuck boy. Me and my pals will be pleasing your skinnyfat wife, while your brats are at school.

If any of that is true your girlfriend is totally cheating on you. BTW I want in at STEM because I simply enjoy programming, it happens.

I actually have two degrees. Coming out of network engineering I could have been a sysadmin and would have been applying for jobs that earn as much as the jobs I'm applying for now 4 years ago.

I didn't because fuck staring at a cisco or juniper CLI until I die. Fuck. No.

So I enrolled at computer engineering because money isn't why I'm applying for STEM jobs. If a bitch is a gold digger I don't want her, what I want is to excel at what I'm good at until I'm so old I'm clearly no longer good at it. If I feel I've taught my trade, I'd retire then.

You just don't understand the guy who was simply meant to be a programmer because he's shit at everything else.

stem is reasonably comfy.

i hope to get an interview reasonably quickly despite the local economy, though.

Even simple accounting is hard to automate. It's become low skill because the programs now make it easy to use but someone still needs to do it.

If you're an engineer, shouldn't you be able to make anything that you put your mind to?

Are most just not creative enough to make something that people will want?

Maybe some of us actually like STEM because we're interested in the sciences or mathematical fields.

filthy richfags don't even work and pretty much leech off of everyone they hire to do work for them, STEM fags are literal tax slaves that work the most out of probably anyone, that's the sad part. STEMfags throughout their lives will likely dump their slightly higher income than minimum wage fags into placebo shit like nicer cars, boats, "vacations", slightly larger yet exponentially more expensive homes.

If a STEMfag wanted to actually obtain something that really mattered like a company share, large tract of land, big real estate, a large business, they would never be able to get enough money because you'd need a lifetime of money for just one and is precisely the reason richfags get richer and there's a huge gap between white collar workers and the super rich.

TLDR STEMfagging isn't worth it like it used to be

My state is seeing a massive tech boom due to low cost of property and low taxes.

Lulz, did you go for a compsci degree and ended up jobless?

STEM degrees can open up a bunch of well-paid careers, unless you're too stupid to spot them. I'm the last few months of my physics PhD, got a nice post-doc gig at at international institution lined up (tax-free income!). Even if I didn't have that - the usual mailing list shows something like 5-10 relevant vacancies in my field. Sure, you'll damned to sit in front of a PC for the rest of your professional career, but unemployment or financial trouble is basically irrelevant, as there are jobs in this field all over the globe. And institutions still have a hard time getting applicants.

Easy jobs are there for the taking, and you don't need to be a genius to spot those careers.

My basic message is: if you've done a STEM MSc/PhD and can't find a well-paid job - you fucked up royally and have no one to blame but yourself.
