Really Britain is at fault for constantly intervening in favour of Germany when France tried to enforce the Treaty of Versailles and signing the Anglo-German Naval treaty without getting any input from France or Italy. Still the fact that we actively jumped around installing Democracy everywhere, formed the League of Nations and never joined the League of Nations sure as hell didn't help.
When Foch said his famous armistice for 20 years quote he didn't mean that Versailles would cause the Germans to seek revenge, he meant that Germany would be able to recover too easily because Britain pretty much blocked every demand that France and Belgium put forward. The Germans would have started another war anyway, nationalist sentiments were still strong in Germany following WW1, had Germany been allowed to keep their original military and not pay reparations WW2 simple would have happened in 1934 and France would have fallen even faster.

That's why france was so kind to demand money from Germany to pay for a war they didn't start. When the Germans couldn't pay up simply because they where starving to death and used money instead of wood because it was cheaper. You seem to forget the fact that Germany lost the war and France wanted to be in a better position when the next war inevitably happened. Also France and Britain were kind, Germany was expected to make three major payments, except the largest payment was the last one which neither country actually expected Germany to pay, they only had it in the peace terms so that French and Belgian citizens wouldn't get pissed that their nations were burned to the ground from a four year war with nothing to show for it. If you actually look at what happened historically the allies were extremely fucking lenient on Germany, and Italy was harsher on Germany than Britain was. The only reason Mussolini actually started aligning his country with Germany was because Britain was actively sabotaging attempts to contain Germany and France had been on the verge of collapse since 1871.
Honestly it speaks volumes for how shitty the Germans are at war that they actually lost WW1 against Britain and two of the most unstable countries in Europe.
