Why did Putin decide to annex Crimea back in 2014? How can he just do that?
>>
>>72310146
he can't just do that, or so they keep telling us.
he did it for oil and gas in the region and a major port in the black sea
>>
>>72310146
because it's full of R*ssians
>>
>>72310146
>Oil and seaport

He justified it by citing the large Pro-Russian population in that region.
>>
>>72310146
Cuz holocaust
>>
He's like Hitler wanting to take back Danzig from Poland. Crimea wanted to be part of Russia and Danzig wanted to be reunited with the rest of Germany.
Also Putin wanted gas pipelines or something
>>
Is this the standard shill thread format now?

Ask a short, misleading, question that's answer is extremely complex then sit back and watch the shit show as anons argue over semantics while OP never posts again? Or are you actually a retard that doesn't read anything about a subject and instead decides to start a thread about it so you can be spoonfed the tl;dr of foreign relations in Eastern Europe that go back for centuries?
>>
>>72310146

cuz putins boy got thrown out of power, and its response, its mostly a US/EU v Russia hedgemony war. Ukraine is just a chessboard
>>
>>72310146
Because he could.
Obama is weak and the EU is a joke.
>>
>>72310146

He got away with it because the Ukrainian military is a sad joke, the west didn't expect a direct snatch and grab, and they moved quickly.

He did it mostly because of a classic statement in history: "Russia needs a warm water port".

standard format requires including "red pill" into your post

You just don't like Russia because they beat you in eurovision every year

Because they needed a warm water port.
They did it fast as fuck.
Now we wait for Russia to annex the rest of Ukraine.

Why not
>>
>>72310146
Just like Kosovo, Golan Heights and all other shit the international community gets over it sooner or later if it stops being in the news.

Crimea was easy thanks to the native Russian population there, the fear of "nazi" maidan and the chance of joining a superpower.
>>
>How can he just do that?
The same way everyone else has done it for like 666666666666666666 gorillion years.
>>
>>72311102
Kek that is the most retarded thing I read todat.
>>
>>72310146
Worry not, the brave Crimean Resistance continues to operate underground. Someday their hard work will pay off and Crimea will be returned back into the hands of ethnic Crimeans. It's pretty hard these days with Russian soldiers everywhere and Russian indoctrination in schools including the ban on Crimean language, but there are precedents when smaller countries managed to win their independence in this uneven battle.
>>
>>72310566
Nigger the kiev government kept a majority of the economic hot spots. Putin took Crimea because he had his god damn fleet there and he had to. It was a response, not a calculated move. I will agree their army is shit, but to be honest there wasnt much to do when the russian soldiers started taking them at gun point. A few officers managed the barricade the barracks and keep them at bay for a week or so, but any conflict wouldve started a war.

>>72310146
Child tantrum. He lost his tamed president in Ukraine, he lost the game of chess so he decided to overturn board to undermine this loss.
>>
Crimea was part of Russia in the 18, 19, and 20th centuries. It got shuffled to Ukraine during the days of USSR which didn't matter because it was all the same country. When the USSR dissolved Ukraine kept it and everyone was left scratching their heads.
>>
>>72310146
Because Crimea is rightful Russian clay
>>
>>72316206
So how is that loss going?
>>
For a naval base on the black sea to project power. Also putins a colossal faggot.
>>
>>72310391
This guy
>>
>>72310146
>Why
For his glorious power
>How
He's better at paying back the bank
