Music made today is generally compressed way more than it should be, but engineers do this to make their music sound like what everyone else is doing. If you don't compress it enough, it sounds flat and weak compared to what's popular. This is why every pop song on the radio today sounds the same, its all compressed to sound like the next big thing.

Because 99% of their music is subtle variations of the same progressions.

It's not like it's some impossible standard that modern day artists can't achieve, it's that you can hand your 8 year old a guitar and with just a few days of practice, they can play the same song over and over and over again for the rest of your life.

I'm not kidding either.

Go buy a $120 beginner level acoustic guitar and look up guitar tabs to start learning how to play it yourself.

After you get the fifth song down in memory, you'll think you somehow have talent that it takes years upon years of playing to figure out how to do.

And then after the tenth song, you'll realize that you haven't learned anything but how to play the same shit in different places on the neck at different tempos.

god-tier implies that it's at the top of the chart as defined by the parameters in which that chart is based, not that it is flawless on a scale that is comparable with the complex nature of the universe. if we can deduce that all pop music shares the qualities you've described then it is the best expression of these qualities.

That's hardly the primary problem.
It's because, not only can I figure out how to play that song, it's that I've figured out how to play the whole song from the structure of 5 whole measures in just one listen.

You can't exactly do that with a classical piano sonata. Tell me more about lack of creativity and inspiration.

I am very clearly in the "non judgmental of music" camp here.
Its been proven that a large part of enjoying music comes from predicting the notes and melody of the song before you hear it, thus people more experienced with music will tend to enjoy more complex music.

It's as simple as that, there is nothing wrong with normies listening to music me and you will find boring, and sperging about it doesnt help. Go lsiten to music like pop standards, its also incredibley simplistic if you look at it with the same critical eye

The shift in music becoming more simple can very easily be explained by music becoming more popular and widespread with technology making music available without th eneed for a lvie performing band, which restricted musics ejoyment to the more elite, and devoted, not most music listeners are casual

You're raising a good point.

All I objected to was the phrase "god-tier".

Some music is objectively better than others, but you have to perceive it through the lens of comparison by complexity.

Most 80's music is fucking shit-tier on that scale.

By any other scale of comparison it's literally, "that's not my favorite blend of noise."

My guess is I just don't like the digital era with music. It's all too "perfect" and takes the humanity out of the art.

Neil young released an album where he recorded straight to vinyl, and I love it. It's got a unique air to it. Youngs other stuff that isn't recorded live or is still digital is just bland and tasteless.

20th century pop music is essentially a Bach revival
If you listen to Bach, particularly the wrks he composed for the Lutheran hymnal you hear two things screaming out at you:
the basslines are dominant, and the basslines are structured in small groupings of which the 12 bar blues progression is the most well known
The 12 bar blues, the main root of all 20th century jazz, blues, rock and r+b was invented by Bach
He used it frequently in his hymnal
His hymnal was the basis for all protestant hymnals
Bach's music was the early padagogy of almost every white and black musician in the US for the last 200 years
Even jew and catholics were heavily exposed to it in their communities
So no, modern music isn't structured like classical, which was heavy on the symphony and etude
modern music is structured like baroque music, specifically baroque church hymns
