IIRC that's not a very good stat. It's a dodgy extrapolation. The last set of good statistics were from the last study to mention immigrant background back in 2006 (i think).

That's not really true there is statistics if you just know how and were to look and you can actually order different kinds of statistics if you would like. The only statistics that you can't get is from the prison and rehabilitation bureau because they refuse to disclose how many of their inmates are immigrants. There is also older statistics like reports from 2005 that show that half of the inmate population serving long prison sentences for violent crimes were born outside of Sweden. And considering that the number of immigrants have gone up while the number of citizens borne in Sweden from Swedish parents has been virtually stationary that would imply that more than half of the current prison population serving long term sentences for violent crimes should be immigrants.

It is a published report from a respectable institution in Finland that looks at crime perpetrators and victims and ethnicity. I can't seem to find it in English but it should be around somewhere.
Basically immigrants as a group are overrepresented as crime perpetrators but there is a significant difference between ethnicity. East asian immigrants tend to be the best immigrants (They work a lot they obey laws they function in society even if they don't integrate well) and africans are the worst immigrants.

The police marked all the reports relating to immigration with a specific code so that the statiticians can easily compile statistics on how immigration has been affecting the workload and figure out were the police might need extra resources. During an ongoing operation they classified some of the reports but now that the operation is over everything is available to the journalists... The media was very intersted in shouting "Oh no cover up!" but when the figures were released no one really cared anymore.
