This man was arrested in Maine because he was living by himself away from society in the woods, with nothing but backpack items.

What does /pol/ think of hermit people?
>>
That's no reason to arrest the guy.

>inb4 some cityslicker mgtow defends jailing him for going his own way
>>
What are the formal charges against him?
>>
>>72176579
He lived like an hour from me
Seemed like a cool dude, just fucking living inna woods
>>
>>72176751
>mgtow defends jailing him for going his own way
What??
>>
>>72176579
In the state of Main, all males are required to spend at least 2 hrs per day with their dicks tied together with a string.
>>
>>72176751
I read the article. In order I survive, he would break and enter and steal food from cabins.
>>
I think somebody who doesn't want to live in my house is probably very dangerous to the point of needing to be arrested for my safety.

Thank God for the Godverment, keeping me safe as always.

good goys avoid white women, they will be happier with tyrone and ahmed, and you'll have more money, everyone wins

Probably wasn't paying taxes, they always get you for that shit.
>>
>>72176830

From Wiki:

"He survived by committing approximately 1,000 burglaries against houses in the area,[2] or approximately 40 per year."
>>
>>72176579
Everything has some fucking law to back it up nowadays, it's such bullshit.

You want to fish and forage for your own food? That's nice, but you have to buy a license from big daddy government, why exactly? Why should we have all our of lives and actions dictated and regulated by a bunch of pencil pushing faggots?
>>
>>72176830
Tax evasion.
Real state abandonement.
That kind of thing.
>>
>>72176830
I remember this. He was breaking into people's homes when they weren't there and taking things. They were trying to catch him for years.
>>
Land of the free
>>
He was stealing food
Fucking shitty bait

The United states has entire groups of people who live innawoods, they don't get jailed until they start to bother other people
>>
He was arrested for breaking and entering and theft. He would enter people's homes and steal batteries and food he couldn't scavenge.
>>
That and the hundreds of counts of burglary. Dude wasn't Davey Crocket, most of his sustenance came from raiding peoples hunting cabins.
>>
>>72176579
He got off from the goyum radar.
>>
>>72176579

Yeah, and about the thousand or so burglaries...
Guy was cool though.
>>
>>72176579
>he dindu nuffin

He was arrested as a suspect in 1000s of burgluries, and pled guilty to 13 counts of theft.

YOU

He was arrested for stealing clothes/materials from buildings near him. Someone said that he stole underpants once

You can actually get away with living on your own away from people, even in a national park. The terms are simple: You can't camp in a single national park for more than 14 days. If a ranger catches you being there longer, he will just write you a citation for a fine. If you pay the fine, you're done. If you can't pay the fine, you have to appear before a judge, and will likely be sentenced to some type of community service. Then you can get back to your life of avoiding park rangers.

The guy OP is putting out there isn't just a camper, he's also a well-known thief. The thievery is what he was arrested for, not the living away from society.

tl;dr - it is technically illegal but punishable only by fines
>>
>>72177110
Exactly. This shit deserves to eat bbc every hour until he's prolapsed.

Even in my own little cesspit of a town, there are homeless people who live in the woods or sleep at the parks, and they survive by trash picking. Probably isn't the healthiest, but at least they don't beg for cash or food or steal from others.

A bro of mine spent a year and a half in a camper by a lake in a national park.
He had dropped out of population over a child support beef.
The rangers never saw him.
Just pick a big enough park and a remote location.
>>
>>72177552
Yeah, vagrancy? They would need to arrest a few million people in US no?
>>
Anti social faggots should be gassed

He wasn't living off of the land, he was living off of other people's vacation home supplies. Breaking and entering countless numbers of times, as well as squatting on private land. I've read this story enough times. There is plenty to be said for the government punishing people who choose to live an alternative lifestyle, but this guy was clearly breaking laws often, and intentionally evading law enforcement.
>>
>>72176579
>>72176751

He was arrested because he was caught (on film) burglarizing homes...and was linked/strongly suspected of committing dozens of burglaries over twenty-some years.

He reportedly spoke to one other person (one time) in that twenty year period and had a shelter in which he survived all seasons a couple hundred metres from someone's rural property.

The guy is a literal legend.
>>
>>72182763
I was wandered around the south for a year and never stole, much less broke into people's houses. Stopped a couple times by cops who were wondering what a guy with a full pack was doing wandering along a local road but I was told to stay safe after they realized I was just backpacking.

Vagrency is only illegle if you plan to stick around and become a problem like most sedintary homeless are.
>>
>>72176579
But he robbed people's cabins for food and other things regularly.

You need to have the local bishops approval and blessing to be a hermit:

>Canon 603 from the revised Code of Canon Law 1983 addresses the eremitical life:

>§1. Besides institutes of Consecrated Life, the Church recognizes the eremitic or anchoritic life by which the Christian faithful devote their life to the praise of God and salvation of the world through a stricter separation from the world, the silence of solitude and assiduous prayer and penance.
>§2. A hermit is recognized in the law as one dedicated to God in a Consecrated Life if he or she publicly professes the three evangelical counsels, confirmed by a vow or other sacred bond, in the hands of the diocesan bishop and observes his or her own plan of life under his direction.
