I don't think anyone really knows. There would be a ton of angry people, but they don't have an easy way to mobilize or get political leverage. It would probably be like the late Roman Republic and the assassinations of the Gracchi brothers. It would lead to a new era of populist politics and very strong anti-establishment sentiments. The distrust in the system would lead to people getting political power outside of the established political system, inevitably leading to some rebellion/conflict like Caesar's, showing the complete failure of the political system. At that point in history, Augustus officially reforged Rome into an empire.
People like to compare Trump to powerful historical figures like Caesar, but I don't think we're quite there yet as a civilization.
