What does /pol/ think of the EU's framework for the promotion of tolerance?

>Whereas tolerance postulates an open mind to unfamiliar ideas and ways of life,

except for this one, the first 2 pages doesn't seem so bad

And then I came to this

Section 8.

Education
The Government shall ensure that:
(a)
Schools, from the primary level upwards, will introduce courses encouraging students to accept diversity and promoting a climate of tolerance as regards the qualities and cultures of others.
>>
>>72134641
The worst is this.

(b)
Juveniles convicted of committing crimes listed in paragraph (a) will be required to undergo a rehabilitation programme designed to instill in them a culture of tolerance.

>MOTHERFUCKING CHILD REPROGRAMMING CENTRES
>>
>>7213567Note that in section 1 (b) they define:
>"Group libel" means: defamatory comments made in public and aimed against a group as defined in paragraph (a) – or members thereof – with a view to inciting to violence, slandering the group, holding it to ridicule or subjecting it to false charges.

They then make this a criminal offence in section 7 (a) (iii), and state in section 7 (b):
>Juveniles convicted of committing crimes listed in paragraph (a) will be required to undergo a rehabilitation programme designed to instill in them a culture of tolerance.

So, it's a criminal offence to ridicule a group now. And if a child does it, then they will be sent to a re-education camp.

Section 9 (a):
>The Government shall ensure that public broadcasting (television and radio) stations will devote a prescribed percentage of their programmes to promoting a climate of tolerance, as per Section 8(f).

Honestly I can't believe this is not receiving more coverage from politicians.

I think we had better tweet this to Nige and Boris and see what happens.

A poster told me last night the EU wasn't socialist "at all". This is downright Soviet.

I hope you are all prepared for a terrifying future. You should all familiarize yourself with Soviet history, you ARE doomed to repeat it.

BURN THE EU

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN

Can someone with an understanding of EU politics explain how this works? Has it already been passed, and does that mean that all EU countries must obey it? Or is it just general guidelines? Is it an idea which has been proposed but not yet passed?
>>
>>72137340
Ignoring the fact that a child, A FUCKING CHILD, can be sent to an EU reprogramming centre for "ridiculing a group".

HOW FUCKING BROAD IS THE DEFINITION.

>My son berates the losing team at lunch after they've played football

Criteria:
>[X} They are a group
>{X} He is ridiculing them

OFF TO BE RE-PROGRAMMED SON

I'm so fucking mad I think I might have an aneurysm.

Just one of those D-politicans rotting in the EUParl. Even a piece of used toiletpaper is worth more.
>>
>>72138303
The intention is that EU member state legislatures will enact it.
>>
>>72138274
So as far as i can tell it hasn't been actually made into law yet. Just "proposed", and even if it is adopted it will just be a guideline which the countries have no legal obligation to uphold.
>>
>>72138303
>>72138504
>>72138566

The wikipedia page seems to suggest that the EU is trying to enact it as we speak.

>The ECTR has presented this document in a series of meetings and seminars with international organizations, including the Council of Europe and the OSCE. As a result there is currently a joint ECTR-European Council task force which is working on its implementation.

>The document has been officially presented to public by ECTR Chairman Alexander Kwasniewski and ECTR Co-Chairman Viatcheslav Kantor on October 16, 2012 in Brussels and later has been passed to Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament.[1] Talking of the need for “rules, proposals, laws” to make tolerance mandatory across the EU, Kantor introduced ECTR’s proposals for a general law of tolerance.[2]

Jesus, christ.
dont do this shit again.

but still these fuckers are paid by someones taxmoney
>>
>>72137674
It's no bill, no guideline, no nothing. Just some unimportant parliamentarians building a informal
talking group and stating something

Imagine it like an non important rephouse committee giving a statement in a policy field they have no power. Noone actually cares.
>>
>>72138566
>which the countries have no legal obligation to uphold
In theory maybe, but in practice it is different.

Only very few countries opt-out of EU legislation, and usually only very controversial bits that were heavily publicised. There are likely consequences for countries that do this in the political backrooms.
>>
>>72138613
Yes, they trying to institutionalize it and make it somekind of informal guideline, by getting legitimation in the field of experts and scientists.
But as with "comprehensive approach", "europeanization" etc it will fail and only academics will now them and critizise em

Afterall EUParl dont have any initation power, nada, they just can scream and threaten to say no to EU Budget and fucking up Commission bills.
