I will take the position that Feminism is a movement that is attempting to reshape society and the interaction between sexes in two ways that are both beneficial.

Why is this a good thing? Girls that are raised as princesses and get everything the want end up becoming terrible human beings. Girls that are raised as tomboys with a more well rounded setting, are taught to be tougher and less prone to emotional outbursts tend to make great mothers and life partners. They are fun to be around, are more likely to develop skills and hobbies outside of their physical appearance and vacuous celebrity culture.
Boys that are raised as real men, who never show or engage emotionally, who suppress their unhappiness and carry loads that break them end up being suicidal, misogynist, easily led and manipulated by charismatic leaders, more prone to violent outbursts and homosexual urges. Boys that are raised in a more balanced setting, experiencing from an early age and embracing a more feminine and emotional side tend to be better partners and fathers, they raise children who respect rather than fear them and are more likely to live longer and be happier.
Feminism from it's radical inception is trying to re-normalize or re-balance the sexes from an overly patriarchal domination to an equal one. Boys will always be boys, but less aggressive and violent. Girls will always be girls, but less selfish and dependent.
Because they are radicals, they are 'cracking a few eggs' in their tactics towards normalization, and it seems like a War on Men. It's really just a war on culture, which is predominantly Male culture.

Here's your problem: feminism has no endgame. It has no metric to measure its own successes, and thus continues to fight even when there are no problems. Feminism won. But it hasn't stopped, so now it is creating problems where there weren't any.
Also, traditional masculinity has been a far more productive and successful influence than femininity. Partriarchies advance humanity. Matriarchies don't.

Because currently all modern society is unhappy. We are materialistic drones programmed to not think and obey.
In the past when you could still die in war or have a passionate or forbidden love affair, life was short, brutal, exciting, thrilling.
We are happy, fat, dull and numb. Part of this crazy reactionism online is that people are grasping for something to feel impassioned about, trying to reclaim their humanity.

To me, once society thrived to such a degree to allow for superfluous individuals you started having a lot of excess cowardly men and ugly women. These are the stupid huddling masses of humanity, devoid of skills or self-realization who are desperate to cling to a God, whether it's a Leader, a movement or money.
Too many people, too much free time, not enough checks and balances as you say in getting killed or dying because of poor decisions. We started weakening the entire species by allowing the unworthy to multiply. Nature watched on in horror as people who might have starved or gotten eaten by a predator or fallen in a giant pit now suddenly propagated through the species, their damaged genetics spreading like a virus.
Ghenghis Khan did an amazing thing, he wiped out millions of superfluous people and repopulated a continent with his seed. Part of why so many Asians are so industrious and intelligent has to do with this one recent common ancestor who was individually a brilliant man.
