If you're not handy with tools it will be difficult, that being said the only issues you have to really worry about on the upper receiver are making sure your barrel and bolt headspace properly, and your gas block is aligned with the gas port. The lower receiver takes just a few pins and springs to slap together.
Going the build it yourself route is great because you can fully customize the rifle to your liking, without having to buy a complete rifle at the gun store and ripping parts off of it you will never use. You get to learn how your rifle works from the inside out. The downside is that you will have to invest into some tools, and a workbench with vise to hold the gun steady while building.
Pic related, my first build. I had a head spacing issue with my barrel and bolt, causing jams. so i sent them back to the manufacturer and they replaced my bolt that headspaced to the barrel properly. No more jams, gun runs flawlessly.

No you are gonna want a fully hooded front post mounted directly on tip of the barrel, and perhaps one of those HK diopter rear sights, those are pretty good.
