It's debatable when talking the major cities. Austin is fun but you're surrounded by 20 yo Bernie supporters. Dallas is meh and superficial. Houston is slowly turning into Brazil. El Paso is cool as long as you're down with being around mexicans every day. San Antonio is like a bigger version of El Paso. Fort Worth is all around mediocre but that's cool for a lot of people.
There's some pretty cool medium sized cities though if you're not dead set on a large one.

Every city here has little "regions" within like the 3rd, 5th ward, greenspoint and south Houston is actually trash black and Mexican ghetto. North side near the woodlands and spring is rich white oil and country folk comparable to the university parks in Dallas (millionares and such). Katy which is near Houston is like the lower middle class haven of Texas but they are really good at high school football. Austin is basically California and Oregon when It comes to political views but it's really fun and a beatiful place to live and it's the live music capital of the world. Dallas is super rich surrounded by ghetto surrounded by super rich. Lubbock is flat land, sun, and dust with a huge college. Also it rains mud in Lubbock when a dust storm hits while it's raining. Amarillo is basically Oklahoma but better. El Paso is Mexico. San Antonio has a lot of Mexicans but is really nice and really pretty. Plus the layout of the city is great. Waco is how u think Texas would be. Lockhart has the best BBQ in Texas. Taylor is the little town where the newest transformers was shot. Cedar park is all under construction but is full of beatiful women for some reason unknown. Georgetown is split in 2 between old and middle class and new and rich. Dripping springs has a a lot of black people but really pretty. Huntsville is basically one big prison. Plano is rich suburbia. Same with the woodlands.
Job market is best out of all states and cost of living is really low.

If you must move here make sure you move to a white part of town. I've never really had problems with either group but they take the general quality of the city down to a lower level. They make some good food though. Also, a good amount of Asians.
Literally nothing wrong with San Antonio, probably the best city ever. It's really spread out so you don't get a big city feel and as long as you live in the north west side you'll have very limited interaction with the Mexicans if that's what you want.

Dallas is leagues better than Austin, but you still don't want to live there.
However, just north of Dallas you have places like Frisco, Plano, McKinney, even Denton, all of which aren't completely libtarded and have plenty to do nearby. Plus, whenever a concert or convention or sportsball or whatever the fuck is in town in Dallas, you're less than an hour's drive away.
I'm currently living in Denton right now, and I gotta say that for a college town it's pretty damn cool, none of that SJW bullshit everywhere. For instance the town square has an arch with a statue of a Confederate soldier on top (see bottom left of the image), and it's still there because people understand its historical significance and refuse to yield to regressive cucks. The panhandle's alright as well, but if you're not within Lubbock, Abilene, or Amarillo, there is sweet fuck all to do. Lubbock's pretty alright as well for a college town, kinda like Denton except more spread out. Anywhere south of DFW/Lubbock and things start getting progressively worse.
I can talk more about San Antonio or Houston area if you like OP, I have a friend going to UT-SA currently (who's trying to get the fuck out) and my family's in a town close to Houston.
I've been to both cities several times and spent most of my life in either Lubbock or north of Dallas.
No state income tax is also pretty fucking good.
