"Fell to his death".

What's next, someone tragically falling headfirst into a noose?

We'll only get more of this shit as we're pushing the start of life up into the late 20s. You're supposed to be established and have a house and a nest egg to live on with a family at that point.

Now people are just stepping out into middle age before realizing they made the wrong choices 15 years earlier and they're fucked.

It's sad pol isn't taking this more seriously mainly because they are dipshits themselves who will never achieve anything.

Very sad story, but unfortunately he's one of many many young people who believe the world owes you job or a living.. We are continuously told you work hard, get the qualifications, and you will get the job of your dreams.. well it doesn't.. not right away as you expect... You have no more right to a job than the person next to you, BUT you will have the right to apply and go up the ladder quicker as you have done the hard work in training whist the person in the job has the right to work there way up learning on the job. My point it.. for goodness sake don't leave education expecting instant job, but don't give up! Hopefully others who may feel the same as this poor guy can read these comments and see so many other well qualified people also had to work their way in to a position.. but they DID get there in the end.. don't throw it all away like this. Stick in there, and you will get the reward.. eventually.

Despite your awful English, that is correct.

Having a degree only gives you the opportunity to say "Hey, I have advanced knowledge on this topic," but the thing is, as far as STEM stuff goes, you learn more on the job than you do studying.

As a bio major, I learned more in my first 6 months of working as an extra pair of hands in a lab, than I did through almost my entire college life.

Isn't the point of a job to make money so use to enable or enhance your survival?

If you are okay with killing yourself and do then kill yourself, then there was no point in having a job in the first place - so no reason to be upset about not getting a better one - so no point in wanting to kill yourself

What happens to everyone and the economy when labour is no longer required? There will only be a finite amount of positions in science and engineering. services pay FA and will probably my be the first to be automated. Maybe there will be some jobs repairing the machines also. Sure everyone can go into an advanced science or engineering or repair degree but we can't employ all those people.

How are you supposed to get a robot to go into your roof and clean out a raccoon nest? Plunge a toilet? Do electrician work without blowing itself when its metal arms accidentally touch a socket?

I agree that automation will take over several industries, particularly construction and fast food. Construction will eventually be like a box of LEGOs that unpacks itself, and the robot knows exactly how to put the parts together as long as the box contains 100% of the parts. Fast food will be a touch screen where you place your order and put cash in/swipe your card and the robots churn out your food to perfection in 30 seconds with maybe one person in the restaurant to do quality checks before it goes to the customers.

UK uni degrees are a bit weird. If you want a good job guaranteed ONLY do one of the following...

Economics at top tier uni
Accountancy at top tier uni
Engineering at respected engineering uni, ideally chem eng or electrical eng
Medicine
Computer Science at top tier uni
Law

All other degrees will just lead to generic graduate programs and if you want to get onto them you might as well do a few years studying psychology at leeds met or some other shit uni.

Doing a masters doesnt help that much desu but its an extra year at uni and many do years in industry, a phd is next to useless

Top tier unis are oxbridge, imperial, ucl, edinburgh and for selected courses the likes of leeds, bristol and durham

How badly this shit will affect you depends on where you live but it's going to get much worse and it will reach everyone eventually. Don't be surprised if the government starts encouraging it or even mandates it in the future.

The reality is that automated facilities end up employing more people after the conversion.

The fear of automation taking jobs is unfounded.

You end up with more machines on site, more people to direct them and more people to maintain them.

Either you see an across the board transition to other jobs, or an increase.

The goal is to increase productivity of the individual worker, not replace them.

People really have no idea that you can build an entire career off Excel. I work in Corporate Finance, training to be an analyst, and some of my co-workers do nothing but crunch data on Excel (easy work for them once you do it for a couple years) and get paid out the ass and promoted constantly because no one else at the company either knows jack shit about Excel or has any desire to try and learn it. Then, you get a little better at it and figure out ways to make it budge a little more each day. Finally, after years of grueling work, you reach the top of the hill and the rock goes down the other side on its own momentum, and you can sit back and hire people to keep it going for you.

Working for a corporation is like having the rock attached to a huge crane called Limited Liability, owned by the government, that helps pull the rock up to the top for you.

You're really overestimating the average IQ and competency of the common person if you believe anyone can just simply major in science or engineering and earn the degree. Why do you think STEM is rare among college students? Math is difficult and the average person doesn't refuse to major in those fields because they won't do it, it's because they can't.

Look, the average university graduate IQ is around 110-115, with STEM fields ranking higher than that if the average IQ by college major is separated even further. For example, Physics graduates have an IQ average of over 130, that's near genius level. The average of American or Canadian is around 90-100. Half of the total population falls below that range. Yet, you believe the majority of them can major in STEM fields?

The guy would have walked into a quant job with a bank or a hedge fund. Guaranteed. At the high levels of finance, they don't look for people with finance degrees; they look for physicists and mathematicians who can program.

This whole story stinks to high heaven. In the UK, most 'general' graduate programs and those in The City - the Big4, the banks etc. - accept people from any degree discipline but put a premium on those with 'analytical skills'. This means that being qualified in something like physics puts you pretty much at the front of the queue. HR would have been all over this guy's dick.

Don't listen to the bitter retards here. College is worth it if you get the most out of it. I work in Finance and here is what I did:

1. Pick a degree you can get a job in.
2. Next, join a student org or business fraternity that has a lot of people in that field. They will direct you to all campus career fairs and employer visits to campus that you can get a suit and resume paper for.
3. Never give a university rep a resume printed on printer paper. They will throw it straight in the trash).
4. If you want to get into business, drink alcohol at bars a lot. Socialize and build a network. The guys in the student org or business fraternity will show you how it's done.
5. Work an internship, study abroad, or take summer classes every summer. If neither, volunteer somewhere. Never, ever have nothing to show for a summer on your resume. And always be able to talk about whatever you put on it.
6. Turn that internship into a job opportunity. Work your ass off and never be late or absent. Your boss will start hinting at it becoming a job if he likes you.
7. Assuming all steps completed, kick back all senior year and try to get straight B's, comfy in the fact you have a job secured and a huge network of people in the field of business you are entering into.

The machine would have to be built around the type of building it is constructing. Take a skyscraper. The machine would be the same perimeter of the construction site, like 4 walls with lots of robot arms, crane hooks, and tools working on the inside. The machine would slowly climb up the side of the skyscraper as it quickly puts all the parts in the pre-designated parts. At the top, it could be disconnected at its 4 corners and flown away in 4 separate pieces.

I just came up with that, but it's not entirely implausible.

We all sit in front of computers all day anyway. IT is the way to go if you don't have enough charisma to make it big in the professions and shill for the white race. We need to figure out how to make money from computers, whether from IT or trade on the internet. If you're good at culture, make culture and sell it online. Figure out how to do it. If you're not good at anything, get good. Become autonomous from society and raise large families with positive white identities in the countryside. Create a parallel nation and let the browns show everyone what they're made of. Our public services and industries are already in meltdown. It's only a matter of time till they turn us into Zimbabwe. Like I said, most 'general' grad programs in the UK accept people from any degree discipline. If the job involves numbers, pottering around on computers or logically analysing a particular situation (i.e. in a consulting capacity) are you more likely to employ the grad with a history degree or the grad with a physics degree?

With something as rare as a physics PhD, it's an open goal.

For example, I just checked the DB job portal and they're looking for quants:

>Educated to PhD degree level or to the equivalent in a numerate subject such as mathematics, financial mathematics, physics or statistics (beneficial)

It builds the upper and lower halves simultaneously and leverages the weight of the lower half to raise the top half. I work in Finance. You are referring to investment trading by paying physicians and mathematicians to come up with advanced algorithmic trading models to try and outperform passively managed portfolios and index funds.

The overwhelming majority of these strategies not only cost a shit ton, but fail to outperform the market or some guy who invests in the 30 top 500 stocks by any statistically significant margin. They simply aren't profitable after costs. However, math models have done a good job finding some subtle patterns at short to intermediate horizons (weekly performance, 3-12 month performance), but little in how to predict long-term performance.

No that's about right. I didn't go to college and on top of not being in crippling debt from student loans, i'm working with those same people who ARE suffering from that crippling debt.

Certain, very specific fields are still as valuable and worthwhile as ever, but even those fields, experienced workers with less educational years are more valued than even doctors. as OP's pic shows.

Traditional Education is just a big waste of time, in the current age. The internet provides us with INFINITE amounts of information and knowledge, aggregated at our fingertips. It takes only 15 seconds, usually less, to find information about anything from plumbing to theoretical physics. The only reason schools existed was to distribute this information in the past, now they're trying to play catch-up with the internet, and really the only thing they provide you is a piece of paper verifying you "took classes", which isn't even the truth, people skip and lie and cheat. Why deal with that shit when you can hire someone, for less money on top of that, who just studied the same shit online?

Really. It's just a damn shame the job market is like this but if you went to a college/university after 2005 of your own volition, it's your own damn fault. Anyone with a brain saw the expanse of the internet and knew what was coming.

How's Regina? Saskatchewan is supposed to be the only Canadian province with 3 weeks minimum guaranteed paid vacation instead of 2 the rest of Canada has.

Pic related. Resume paper is sold at every Wal Mart, Office Depot, Post Office, UPS store, and Target in the country. Employers can't take you seriously if you hand them a resume on printer paper. Not the ones from firms that will get you big places.

It is not that expensive. Just buy a stack, put a few sheets in your printer paper tray, and make 10 or so copies of your resume to hand out to employers if you go to an interview or career fair. Trust me on this one, young /biz/nessmen.

Yes, like this. Although I doubt you can 3D print with material strong enough to support a skyscraper. Not yet at least.

Because there are already massive cities underground for the reptillians to inhabit, and they can't have us realizing they are directly under all our major cities!

Joking. But it isn't unsafe if the whole process is designed bottom-up to be safe with plenty fail-safe measures taken.

That always seemed like one of the most annoying "capitalist" jobs where you as the salesman does all the work, but a significant share of the money goes to the dealership owner may not even show up or ever do anything.

we don't need depopulation. the problem with the floundering economy is that we don't reward efficiency, and we're handing control of industry, prestige, and jobs, to niggers who waste it, and people with gold stickers instead of smart people.

we don't need fewer people. we just need fewer nonwhites, and to oppress the stupid whites. because currently the stupid are oppressing the intelligent.

The problem is a minimum wage and general disruptive legislation making it impossible for people to get onto the bottom of the job ladder, combined with an upcoming generation being raised to be lazy, spoiled, whiny, and entitled.

Nobody hires quants like they used to. They used to hire Russian quants, because they were cheap, now they hire the Chinese because they are cheap. It's mostly programming, too. The actual computations in finance are very straight forward. Most of the quants are foreign.

Plus, physics is not a good discipline for quants. Quants are mostly mathematicians or engineers. Physicists just know how to apply math to their problems. Quants need to know math and try to measure something that is hard to measure. Physics is the last field you want your quant to have a background in. I haven't seen a good quant who was a physicist, and I mean ever. I saw a few mediocre ones. The skill set required is different.

You're seriously butthurt. Affirmative action does exist, but still white males come out a long way ahead. It doesn't mean that all white males win (some are stupid faggots), but I know that I have massive advantages (private boarding school, Ivy-League education, wealthy white professional parents) and I'm smart enough to realize that I have it easy. It just gets me a bit when other privileged white guys don't acknowledge this and instead start pretending like they're terrible white trailer trash.

Don't forget to check your privilege, white guys!

If you are making six figures in the middle of nowhere, you are winning the game. You will pay off the ten acres you bought with a $2,000 down payment in three weeks and then the rest of your money can be spent on cool shit and sweet vacations.

I live in Vancouver and make six figures and I envy the guys doing the same on Vancouver Island and in Prince Rupert.

Making tons of money and living cheaply is going way to go.

boring and cold, but good people. the people of saskatchewan sure as hell are what we mean by "old stock" canadians, even though half are of ukie/square-head descent from the turn of the century.

The whites (farmers et al) are great, injuns out that way are better than the west coast and ontario, but there's not much to do.

Culturally not much different from Montana, as both are pretty gun friendly but not over-the-top about anything.

I'm a mathematician. I've seen physicists and engineers make solutions to parabolic equations unstable, because they don't know what the fuck they are doing. You have to know the spirit of the math, not the formulas. I had to apply real math maybe three times in my career, and it had to do with other people's fuck ups.

>"""physics"""

Yeah well I am a physics student and there are no unemployed people in my field or any other similar field that I know of. There are more than 50 kinds of physicists... molecular physics, thermo/aero/hydro dynamics, kinematics, lasers, theoretical, experimental, computational, applied, nuclear, lasers, sound, man there is millions of different fields. And ALL OF THEM ARE INDUSTRY ORIENTED!!!

Industry (aka the jobs) literally works on these things. Car industry. Arctic and arab oil extractions. Military applications/weapons design. Forensics. Medicine. These are all essential jobs. This is all real, primary, essential, base job.. these are the people because of which you can also hire everyone else. They make the welfare jobs happen.

The most profitable, secure and successful businesses on Earth are just tech giants with engineering and (applied) physics degrees. Google and Facebook bullshit, Tesla stuff, consumer electronics (apple and so on), list really goes on.
This guy just went into some hobby tier astro stuff that cant be applied or something.
>>
>>72034114
that might be the case. the math I deal with is a lot simpler. I'm not sure how you even make a parabola unstable.

but technical analysis is fucking palm reading or astrology. astrology used to have equations and real math. it didn't make it less stupid.

The issue is the building is far more than just the physical structure. You have to build part, add services, build some more add more ect. you also cannot account for everything, problem solving on site is another issue.

Prefab however is how automation could take over. Purpose build factories building modules that are then placed and finished by people already exists and is becoming more and more popular.
