They abolished religion, over turned all the traditional values of the nations the Soviet Union was comprised of and in the satellite states. Promoted gender equality, ferocious anti-nationalistic given that they wanted the whole world under communism and gave Tito hell for wanting some independence.

If you'd known anyone living in the USSR you'd know that men were always in charge and were always considered the head of the household. It was a very chauvinistic society, for better or for worse.

Yes. But USSR thought diversity as "take monkey and turn it into human". They forced education on those sand- and mountain niggers, for example, made them learn RUssian, built plants and created jobs for them, created universities for them to study.
Same time USSR prerved their culture while slowly mutating it(many exUSSR muslim dont wear hijab or burka - soviet islam was against it). If little nation didnt even had own language - USSR created one for them and taught them their own language, lol.
Example - Usbekistan under USSR was building planes, their study of how to handle agriculture in desert was pretty cool. They remained muslim but stopped using burkas or some other shit.
Now after 20 years of independence, without "soviet totalitarian state" UzSSR turned into a feudal shithole that lives by selling gas and providing cheap labor to Russia. With USSR they might turned into people some day. No hope now.

Communism and all the shit was a religion. Values wasnt that overturned - USSR created mechanism of divorce and...hated people who used it. For example Andropov had a divorce and hist enemies often used that fact against him. Cause it was bad for communist to have divorce. This is where tradition of living-with-a-monster comes - divorce is discouraged.

This thread got me thinking about cold war era United States vs. present day United States. (And I suppose the western world in general)
During the cold war, it was generally accepted among Americans that communists were the enemy. Communism is essentially just a belief system, and yet during the cold war, it was perfectly acceptable to hate someone just for being a communist, or even openly declare that this person deserves to die, simply for believing in communism.
Now if we look at the present-day U.S., I would argue that America's most significant enemy are Muslims (based on all the wars and such), which, much like communism, is simply a belief system. And yet, most people in America and the rest of the western world do not hate Muslims, and you would certainly never see someone standing on a street corner with a sign saying "The only good Muslim is a dead Muslim".
Why is this? Is it because of the rise of liberalism? Lack of anti-Muslim propaganda?
