>1 in 6 people in America face hunger.
>The USDA defines "food insecurity" as the lack of access, at times, to enough food for all household members. In 2011, households with children reported a significantly higher food insecurity rate than households without children: 20.6% vs. 12.2%.
>Food insecurity exists in every county in America. In 2013, 17.5 million households were food insecure. More and more people are relying on food banks and pantries.
>49 million Americans struggle to put food on the table.

Why is nothing being done about hunger in this country and why does this board totally ignore it?

The only hungry people in America are meatheads and crackheads who don't buy food because they want drugs. I say fuck them.
>>
>>71994794
The federal government expands the definition of "hunger" or "poverty" to include more people so as to justify more welfare. No one is starving to death in the US. Malnutrition is a direct result of poor food decisions, not lack of food.
>>
>>71994794
No american is truly hungry. Poor americans just can't get enough fast food they want and have to settle for home cooking, which they hate.

Take into consideration starving statistics.

Consider that more time and effort spent procuring food is more beneficial to their health than sitting around waiting with their hand out.

People who spend their time focusing on important things like how they're going to keep eating through the month have less time to spend worrying about what gender they are.

It's because people sue. That's the truth.

>Customer doesn't want food?
>throw food away
>make too much food
>throw food away

Giving random food to random people is a violation of a bunch of health code laws and people will sue the shit out of you. Therefore, fuck them. Eat it out of the dumpster

No one in this country knows the meaning of hunger unless they're dependents who are kept hungry by idiot parents or else in some freak circumstance like being kept locked in someone's basement. There's plenty of food in this country. The problem is that people spend all of their money buying expensive fast food, junk, drugs, and other stupid shit instead of shopping smart and cooking at home. They also take out giant loans and finance luxuries they can't realistically afford. Let's face it: stupidity is the reason most of those losers "face hunger," and that stupidity is ingrained so deeply on a cultural level that it's impractical to even try to fix it. There's nothing to do but sit back and watch our country crumble into ashes.

Here are some other metrics that you should look up

>press freedom index
>social mobility
>poverty line (and those above and below it)
>child mortality
>economic freedom index
>corruption index
>spending power
>food stamp usage
>full time employment/part time/unemployment (its the one most heavily played with to obscure facts, like it discounts the people from them who have been looking for jobs over 2 years)

Shit, I think that there are 3 more that are pretty significant, but I kinda forgot them. I think I shall put them into a list.

These metrics you should keep track off to know the health of a nation though. Does anyone remember more important ones?

>>

Development index!

Also, some are fair quite worse than others, and yea I agree with you, for big issue you can see that its heavily doctored, like the panama papers, there was a universal manipulation of it in the west. With nothing negative on the western leaders being said about it mostly.

But in flag related, I got the impression that the normal people are still somewhat proud of their position in it and one even said that their newspapers didnt do the full on putin bashing. So I think it still should be somewhat kept an eye on.

It also completely demolished the US for the snowden thing. So, its not 100% but still somewhat important to look at I think.
>>
>>71999629
water stress index!

though its not exactly a good measure on the health of a nation, (in the west it just usually means a large industry, which is of course good, but in africa it means dumb niggers being dumb and shit)
>>
>>71999711
>volatility index

something more obscure and only related to the US? Still perhaps important for economic things.
>>
>>71994794
could literally fix the food problems of the world with culture. Create a culture of cultivating food and not wasting land growing superficial plants.
Get people to grow their own food on their property instead of useless grass.
Encourage community gardens with herbs and fruits.
Encourage people to grow herbs inside their homes instead of just flowers etc like most people do.
Encourage people to grow locally.
Get the major farms to export their excess yields to countries in need even. Teach those countries how to grow food because some obviously are too inept for it.

reason it wont happen? If everyone was growing their own food and was self efficient the gdp would plummet and the hogs who only care about gdp would flip their shit and cry foul.

Here in germany you can get a bag of 500 gram oats for like 39 cents.

500 gram have about 1700 calories.

Lets say you need 2200 calories per day, thats 66000 kcal per month, or 39 packs of oats which coast 15,21 euros.

For 15,21 euros you can cover your caloric needs for a month, or you could go to mac donalds 2 times.

Of course just eating oats is bland, boring and will lead to malnourishment in the long run, but i bet with as little as like 50 euro you could actually get all your nutrients in in a month. For maybe 120 you could actually eat tasty food every day. All those people cyring about not having enough to eat probably buy shit loads of premade frozen pizza and lasagna, ice cream, sweets, snacks, soda, alcohol and maybe cigarettes

As someone who makes near minimum wage, and can provide for myself despite that, I don't understand: why do so many poor people have children? I think that's where a lot of their problems stem from. If you can hardly afford to feed yourself, then why have kids? I just don't understand. Don't have a child if you don't have a lot of money. There'd be a lot less hungry people.

There is literally no way there is real hunger in America, let me explain:

You can buy a McDonalds cheeseburger for $1.50 in America, McDonalds will also pay you on average $10/hour to flip those burgers. So say $7 after taxes, which means you can eat at least 6 cheeseburgers per hour for up to 8 hours and still have money leftover.

>tfw Americans eat 50 cheeseburgers and are still HUNGRY

Your argument is now invalid.

>inb4 b-b-but what about rent money
I don't give a fuck that your homeless, move down south, sleep outside and don't eat 50 fucking burgers a day.
>>
>>72003063
I have starved in America for real before. A close friend of mine is currently starving, literally starving. You can't buy those burgers if there isn't a job that will pay you to flip them in the first place. Then you're stuck between starving and losing all your dignity and going on food stamps.

Last year when I ran out of food the first time I found leftoever flour and shortening. Mixed the two and baked them to make crackers, ate that for a few days until the flower ran out. Then I just didn't eat for a while.
>>
>>72003063

Sorry, my math was fuzzy, that's 4 cheeseburgers per hour with money still leftover. Which is a cheeseburger every 15 minutes for 8 hours.

Food aid should be in the form of a card that you can go to a "Surplus Market" and buy staples that the government bought from farmers: Milk, Cheese, Meat, Whole Wheat Flour, Cornmeal, Frozen Concentrated OJ, Soybean Oil.

People on welfare should be given the option to get a job at one of these Surplus Food Centers that doesn't count against their aidBux.

That way if you are on welfare or unemployment you can say you worked as a cashier or stocker or whatever.

>>
I used to buy food stamps for 20 cents on the dollar from poor people looking for drug money. It's their own damn fault they are going hungry.

>what is shitty sex ed
>>
It sounds like it doesn't add up but it does. Cheap food is fattening which is typically what poor people purchase. Most fast food is terrible for your body. Walmart contributes to poor people being overweight.
A lot of food is discarded when it could be used for a different purpose
>>
Go full commie and redistribute the "food wealth."
it's what papa bummie sanders would want, after all.

GINI coefficient to measure income inequality. 1 is perfectly equal. 0 is perfectly unequal.
>>
>>71994794

To be honest mate your country needs to go on a diet anyway, maybe a few years of food insecurity will help you out a bit in the long run
>>
>>72005383
It hadn't occurred to me that food stamps were transferable like that. Seems ripe for abuse as you suggest.

You mean something parents should teach to their kids? like sexual education.
,why the government should waste money on that when parents can provide that knowledge? it's your child not the government's child.

>1 in 6 people in America face hunger.

That's because the other 5 are eating all the food.
>>
>>71994794
Canuck here. Your produce prices are god tier. It's just lazy ghetto bums who mysteriously always have flat screens and smart phones in "food deserts". Or redneck fat pride "real women" wal mart queens.

They aren't getting my fucking burgers

Oh, I misread county as country in the OP

So the once mighty usa is actually becoming a 3rd world nation and having to eat like starving Africans lol
As the us economy continues to spiral into a severe depression this can only get worse from what I have heard.
>>
>>71994794
I have seen the households where food is in question.

It is certainly never in question for the adults.
It never comes before alcohol or drugs or the newest game systems
Nor does it come before new clothes and upgrades to their cars.

Fuck 'em. I feel for those kids but honestly sending those fuckwads more money won't help them. The local church feeds the kids pretty much daily with no assistance outside of charitable donations.
>>
>>71995626
They eat a fuck ton of food. That's why they are fat.

>>

Because there are parents who simply won't do it since no one taught them how.

Same goes with Sex ed. It's important to make sure they atleast some kind of knowledge on the subject. You can't fully trust all parents to take care of this shit.

By doing both, you avoid having so many teen pregnancies and actually raise people who can cook a decent meal.

There are too many families in the US that don't have a single person with even simple cooking skills.

Eating frozen foods, fast food and snacks is expensive and leads to obesity.
>>
>>71994794

Because some people are just too fucking stupid to get on food stamps when they need to or spend all of it, illegally, on non-food items. And this is beyond the people who make too much money to qualify for food stamps but don't live within their means, buying luxuries that they can't afford like high dollar, high insurance rate vehicles, expensive phones and phone plans, monthly cable bills, etc.

In short, fuck 'em.

This part is a myth at least according to CURRENT YEAR man.

>Then you're stuck between starving and losing all your dignity and going on food stamps.

This sounds like such a hard choice. Starving or having the cashier know you're on food aid, that's like having to choose what child you want to sacrifice.

1 in 6 "Americans" aren't even Americans.
>>
>1 in 6.
I struggle with this number. Even I'm the shittiest ghettos thier are fat fucks everywhere.

The only systematic hunger problem I have been able to detect is welfare mommies that keep all the gibs and send their kids to school hungry. This is terrible, but is not large enough to account for 1 in 6. Not even 1 in 6 children.

I want to know more about the methodology of this study.

I could see the numbers getting that high if they are also including people that frequent food banks and free charity meal houses, but a huge number of those people are just milking the system.

>source, I worked at a Catholic Worker house one summer.
>>
>>71995466

^this is a massive part of the problem, but for some reason no one is talking about it.

Ending corn subsidies would go a long way to fighting the obesity epidemic.
>>
>>71994794
>>1 in 6 people in America face hunger.

Bull. Shit.

They might be retarded enough to spend their money on clubbing and not have enough for a hamburger later but that's retardation not starvation.
