>sadam, gadaffi, sunnis got btfo
No, They were leaders who refused to accept the existence of Israel and to bend over to the will of the Americans and the west. Gadaffi was going to introduce the gold backed North African Arab Dollar but the EU, Hillary Clinton and especially France didn't want that to happen so they got rid of him but were ill-prepared for the aftermath. As for Saddam, the moment he fell the Sunnis, Shi'ites, and Kurds fought for a piece of the land and so the secterian war enraged with the Americucks in the middle of it.

Basically any Sunni/Shi'ite government that isn't sucking Jewish American cock selling Petrol in U.S dollar is going to get invaded. Shi'ite Iran, Lebanon (Hezbollah) and the Syrian Alawite government are actively opposing American/Israeli dominance so of course they will be on the list to be taken out.

Believe it or not.. But the PMU and Shi'ite militias are the only ones kicking ass in Iraq. You can look no further than typing Iraqi Population Mobilization Unit on youtube and you'll find what you want to see. Meanwhile the 2nd "Sunni Awakening" is in the making but the U.S brass doesn't wanna wait around for it so they are pushing on to Mosul with or without the Sunni Tribes. Iraqi gov wants Sunni tribes to take a major role in the battle of Mosul or else the Shi'ite army will go into the city and kill every Sunni in revenge for every Shi'ite death at the hands of ISIS, that can't happen and the Americans and the Iraqis know it.

I'm talking about the Syrian government, they got framed for committing crimes they didn't do. As for the Iraqi government, I can't deny the fact that the Shia majority government has created an uneasy secterian atmosphere for the Sunnis which boiled over in recent years. So the Sunni Islamist uprising was inevitable after the Americans left back in 2011.

If there were to be a Turkish civil war would it be Islamist turks versus secular turks versus the kurds? Which side would the Shia turks join keep in mind the Islamist turks are majority sunni.
>>

I stutter when I speak any language other than kurdish.

>>
>>71995537
The Syria government isn't like that, I mean 80% of the SAA is Sunni, a lot of government officials are Sunni, the rebels who are defecting FSA are joining the SAA and Bashar has been pretty forgiving, in the long run Syria will recover a lot better then Iraq will.

>f there were to be a Turkish civil war would it be Islamist turks versus secular turks versus the kurds? Which side would the Shia turks join keep in mind the Islamist turks are majority sunni.

Sunni VS Shiite is more of an Arab VS Persian kinda thing so in Turkey or any other majority Muslim country it's not an issue, but even then the Shiites in Turkey at least the majority are hardly religious so they would side with the Secularists.

It all depends in time, if a civil war breaks out in Turkey in this hour it's hard to tell, because Turkey is backed by NATO, and NATO wouldn't allow it.

But let's say that Turkey didn't have any foreign backing, I don't think the secularists have a chance in hell, think about the millions of foreign Muslims fighters that would be pouring in into Turkey to make sure the land stays Muslim with Sharia Law, I'm talking about Muslims from Pakistan, Central Asia, Arab Muslims, I just don't see the secularists could even stand a chance.

As for Kurd's, they will stick to themselves like always, very few will join each side but nothing major.

The Turkish secularists would probably get help from Arab and persian elements that oppose Sunni Islamism and salafism takfiris = Hezbollah and an Iranian/Russian backed secular/Shi'ite faction getting weapons and training to fight the islamists.

The Kurds will continue to eat their popcorn in Rojava while the turks arabs and persians slaughter each other for dominance which is probably what Israel wanted... Its pretty sad really.

I don't see Persians backing any secular groups, they only back Shiites, so until the Shia Turks start praying as a Shiites Iran wouldn't even consider it, as for the Arabs they have their own thing to worry about, but one thing for certain no Arab nation would aid a secular group since the majority of Arabs are hardly secular (even an Arab Christian is more red pilled then your average Westerner).

The only one who would more then likely get involved is Russia, and Russia doesn't give a damn about secular or religious, they will back who ever gives them something in return in the long run.

in turkey its nearly impossible to tell the difference between different sects or religions of people, they all look the same and act under the same culture
a personal example i can give you is that when a friend of mine died i found out that he was an alevi, we did the ritual rites according to the alive beliefs during his funeral
and shia religion has always been there in turkey, from all the way back in the seljuks, iran used to use them to cause internal problems but nowadays there is no such distinction

>>71995537
>If there were to be a Turkish civil war would it be Islamist turks versus secular turks versus the kurds?
i don't know that because the lines in turkey are quite blurry on this, but if there was any outside threat you can be sure that turkish people would unite against it
but an internal war would probably be 3 way as you have said, but not islamist vs secular but pro-erdogan and anti-erdogan would be the sides probably

Good point, but my main argument was that Persians wouldn't back a secular group, I'm not talking about allies but giving support.

Now with the example you've shown, Hamas is against Israel, makes sense since Iran is against Israel, kurd's since they are against Saddam, makes sense since Iraq and Iran was at war with each other.

In this case would Iran back a secular group that isn't going to serve any Iranian interests? I don't see it happening.

You guys really know nothing about this place do you?

Hüda-Par is linked to the Turkish-K*rdish Hezbollah, not the Lebanese one. "Hezbollah" literally means "Party of God", so it is a very common name among Islamist groups. The one in Turkey is Sunni and very K*rdish despite being hostile to PKK. They used to be armed against Turkish authorities but of late they are becoming milder; they aren't very significant or powerful here but of course have their fair share of zealots.

To answer your question, there are a lot of Alevis in Turkey; 20-25% of the population is Alevi. They are considered Muslim but are actually a mix of Muslim and Tengrist and Christian. Here are some very spooky rituals, best parts start around 2:00:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2zsCoNnfg8

Overall they seem to be secularists, not because they are overall less religious than Sunnis but because the Sunnis would fuck their shit up if they were allowed to influence the law according to Sunnism(more than they are doing so already). Ok people in my opinion; in case of a civil war against Allahists I am pretty sure these guys would make a solid part of the secularist army since they come from all economic backgrounds and tend to be somewhat religious.
>>
>>71998883
Hizbullah never went against the government, there's a reason they are called Hizbul-kontra (counter-guerrilla). They did the Uğur Mumcu and other assassinations for the forces that be.

Oh they definitely worked together. But officially they remain against the government. The subhumans who make the laws of this place would be glad to replace PKK with these fags, I am sure.

Iran is getting ready to join the global economy, and will need to build alliances and relationships with other countries. Might benefit them to start gradually shedding some of those ideals about secular groups. They waited almost 30 years for this opportunity, it would be a shame to fuck up the transition.

If a secular group is countering the influence of Sunni extremism yes, but everything else equal no we won't support secular. You know in fact for a time Iran even supported the "Islamic awakening" of Sunni countries like the Ikhwan in Egypt, but then shit hit the fan and their rhetoric got sectarian very fast.

>>71998883
Are Turkey's Alevis mostly Turk or Kurd?
>>
>>71999196
True but Iran itself isn't secular currently, unless things change in Iran then I could see them expanding.

Unless those Islamists are a threat to Iran then I don't see them taking sides.

>>71999534
>If a secular group is countering the influence of Sunni extremism yes
But the group that is secular is more likely to be Westernized, which in the long run isn't going to serve the Iran any favors.

I don't think Iran is that stupid to support a secular group just for the sake of doing it.

Can anyone redpill me on the Arabic spring.

Was it really people being fed up by dictators and wanting more freedom or was it a way for jihaids to get into power --> Egypt.

Thanks in advance.

In a relevant development earlier on Monday, the Syrian fighter jets carried out several combat flights over the ISIL concentration centers near Palmyra and Quaryatayn and targeted the terrorist group's military and supplying vehicles.

The Syrian warplanes bombed a number of the ISIL machinegun-equipped vehicles on a road in the Eastern part of Quaryatayn, which not only claimed the lives of several militants but destroyed the vehicles in large scale.

The Syrian Army's aircraft, in the meantime, targeted a supplying route of the ISIL between the Arak oilfield and Eastern part of Palmyra, which ended in the destruction of most of the column's vehicles.

I assume FSA is Free Syrian Army and AQI some Al Qaida thing (in Iraq?). I suggest those acronyms be added to the image. Also the list of countries and dates mask the Al-Nusra but that's a minor issue.

The Youtube video sucks, it's a compilation of pre-war kids (bless those poor fuckers) and heads being chopped off.
Any better links for understanding the series of events, both leading up to the war and the war itself, for someone who knows zip about the region? I'm generally not interested in current events but I feel forced to give it a try due to migration impact. So stuff that is very consise and related to Middle Eastern relations can be interesting too. Vids or texts.

How much of a role does/did religious tension play? Now with the ISIS it plays a huge role, but surely there were events before that? Also is there any tension related to ethnicity? The Kurds seem to be doing their thing as usual but I haven't thought of them as playing anything but the defensive role, am I correct?
>>
>>72010941

You are dead wrong, just wait and see what happens when you try to play the United States.
>>
>>72010142
>>72011037
Cool maps, you should put dates on them tho. Also I don't understand where Damascus is. The other major cities seem to be marked as larger circles. Do you have a legend for what different sizes correspond to?
>>
>>72011037
>>72012703
That is a problem originating from the wikipedia maps themselves. Aleppo and Damascus arent marked as circles but are partially opaque overlays on the map. If you look west of the Damascus name on the map you see slightly darker network of roads on the map. That is Damascus city.

If youre still interested in my results, you can find them here:
https://archive.4plebs.org/pol/thread/71222816/#71243993
and in the two posts linked in that post.
NOTE THAT Azaz&Aleppo city are considered FSA there, but turned out to have a definite Al-Nusra presence. I could update too.
>>

>How much of a role does/did religious tension play?
- From anti-government side:
A very definite role. We find jihadist presence often in areas with a traditionally bigger Sunni population like Idlib, Daraa. Though there are also Sunni areas with government support.

To sum it up, Sunni majority area is NOT ALWAYS anti-government, but
Anti-government is basically ALWAYS Sunni majority area.

EXAMPLE: the SHIA towns of Foua and Kefraya form a small Government-held enclave in Idlib, an otherwise SUNNI majority province in NW Syria which is held by Al-Nusra/FSA factions. This is not a coincidence.

- From government side:
Not that big of a role. A large part of the SAA is Sunni, many Syrian officials and ministers are Sunni.

There were situations where people genuinely wanted change and wanted and end to corruption, unemployment, political repression etc.

However in cases such as in Syria or Libya there is much documented evidence the "prosestors" had outside organizing from the very beginning and that it was all planned to overthrow the government as the protestors received huge amounts of weapons almost immediately.

The thing about the middle east is that in many countries the pro-western and secular educated part of the population are a minority and the majority of the population favors Islamist political parties. Despite that Obama called for Mubarak to step down when the protests become large enough the protests were mostly authentic and not outside-controlled.

Muhammad Morsi despite being a sunni Islamist and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood was not a jihadist and Egypt under him didn't start funding head-choppers. The first Egyptian revolution that led to Morsi being elected was authentic and real and was not a plot to get an Islamist elected, its just that in Egypt the majority of the population would prefer an Islamist party in power.

With both Libya and Syria after the initial fighting broke out Assad and Gaddafi both signaled that they were willing to have large and significant reforms on the lines of what many people wanted but by then its too late because governments opposed to them were already hugely helping the rebels so the fighting continued.

The situation is different in every country in the middle east and back in 2010/2011 the people of pretty much every country in the region had good reasons to complain and demand change but peaceful resolution of those demands was ruined because of the obsession of western intel-services with using protests in anti-western countries as a vehicle for regime change.

President Obama Says Germany’s Angela Merkel Is ‘on Right Side of History’
By ARLETTE SAENZ Apr 24, 2016, 3:57 PM ET

President Obama today defended German Chancellor Angela Merkel for how she has handled the Syrian refugee crisis, even as she faces political backlash for her policy.

Merkel announced last year that Germany would accept hundreds of thousands of refugees. But just last month, a political party whose platform opposes Merkel’s open-door refugee policy made historic gains in state elections — an outcome seen as a referendum on the chancellor’s migrant position.

Obama praised Merkel, saying that he is “proud” of her and the German people.

“She is on the right side of history on this,” he said in a press conference as Merkel stood beside him. “She is giving voice, I think, to the kinds of principles that bring people together rather than divide them. And I’m very proud of her for that and I’m proud of the German people for that.”

>Hur dur iam a caliphate warrior
90% of times Isis fighter is wearing civil clothes (sometimes Addidas) and armed with 80ties rifle.
Not to mention that majority of them can barely write their name.
Also i remember seeing a video on liveleak where Isis commaner went into crying hysteria when SAA soldier told him that Alah is on SAA side not on Isis side.

>Pipeline deal gone horribly wrong for both sides

I still can't understand what was Assad's deal back then. He fucked up Qatar that in turn wanted to fuck up Saudi Arabia, then he made a 180° twist and accepted the Iranian deal that wanted to have a pipeline transporting literally the same gas as the Qatari one. But with a refinery in Damascus and every major work outsourced to a Swiss (read: jew) corporation. WTF?

This is more fantasy than reality tho. The US army is really well armed and coordinated.
>>
>>72021707

Not at all likely. There is a high chance they would get caught and it would be a huge shit-show.

They would be spotted a mile away. The US special forces are some of the best on the planet but they don't have enough people who look Syrian and can fluently speak levantine Arabic well enough to blend in and do it without being spotted a mile away.

The difference is that Israel has a wall and doesn't let them into their country since they do some serious background checks on any arabs entering Israel.

ISIS is only strong in Western Europe because those pathetic faggots welcomed them with open arms.
>>
>>72021701
They exploit the gas fields as part of a cooperative project. That was kinda like the deal with the Qatari pipeline (to fill the Nabucco with Iranian gas under Qatari flag to circumvent the sanctions).

Before you ask, Qatar has a pretty influential and well-integrated Shi'ite minority

Smuggling in a knife is a fuckload easier than smuggling in a load of bombs. The Israelis simply don't allow large groups of Muslims to enter their country, so they are far less vulnerable to those sorts of attacks.

>>

Also, there are probably dozens of stabbings in Europe every day that just don't get reported because it would interfere with the "Multicultural project."
>>
>>72022537
That's what I meant, couple stabbing made by IS would give them better image among muslims and show that they aren't jewish trick.

Will never happen. All things considered, Assad is the perfect toy: they have his full psych evaluation (from his time in England) and this civil war showed that he is not exactly the strong leader his father was.

>They would be spotted a mile away. The US special forces are some of the best on the planet but they don't have enough people who look Syrian and can fluently speak levantine Arabic well enough to blend in and do it without being spotted a mile away.

They can infiltrate Syria as Russian "advisors" and nobody would ask a thing.
